Hi, i'm trying to watch a film on wmp, vlc, divx, all sorts. i installed directx recently and when it comes on the screen is green.

So do i need a codec or something? thanks;)

GSpot will tell you what Codec is needed to play something. :)

Sounds very strange. I only got VLC installed and no other codecs of any sorts. - And I have NEVER had any problems. But yeah do as georgie said, try GSpot and see if that helps.

I'll try and think for a solution later today if you don't solve it.

Thanks guys. I've got a picture up now.

They all look really dull if not black and white now. Any idea?

I use DIVX player as my main, with VLC at my alt.

VLC plays everything under the sun first time round. DIVX is simpler and more user friendly, but you do need to DL codecs quite often
