i'm not really into the lan/internet ways, so i'd thought i ask around if anyone know a fix to this problem:

yesterday everything was working fine. today when i connected to internet, i could surf (apparently since im here), but i cant connect to any services.. aka irc/daoc.

i can't ping any IP's.. only getting the normal time-out message.

so even tho i can visit, for example, www.google.com, i cant ping it. what is this?

Have you installed/enabled a firewall?
Can you ping 127.0.0.1 (your localhost)?

well thanks for help Kalid, but apparently my ISP had restricted my internet account for other connections then surfing because of some sort of abuse.. aka virus on comp or something. which is a bit weird as i dont use an ftp server, not icq/msn/outlook and havnt emailed in several days.. but i guess it can happen anyway :(

1. your router/firewall or if u have a NAT/Masquarade PC doesnt forward the packets.
2. u can browse pages couse the browser is using a proxy server.

OR u scanned/tryed to connect on some IP rage for back doors OR u tryed to upload some of them OR your IP got bombed from outside and ISP put a filter on it. Lots things might determinate the ISP to filter u'r address.

Ask what kind of abuse it was... You might have been infected by a worm using RPC and your computer have continued to spread it on your network. Scan your computer with antivirus software, patch your OS and contact your ISP again.

according to support by phone, it was the Sasser virus.. but i didnt find anything by using both norton 2004, or the special sasser tool from symantec.
