[HELP] A Critical Error Occured --Warhammer Will Now Terminate

Why and how can i fix this problem?
Like everyone else i have gone through all the account problems, the .dll problems, the missing files problem. and after 3 hours i have come to an error i cannot correct. After selecting play from both the WAR Launcher and Application in Program Files. I get Critical Error --Warhammer will now Terminate . any help you be awesome, thanks guys

Did your client work at any point?

Make sure all your drivers (video card specifically) are all up-to-date. Also, go into your Warhammer/logs directory and locate debug.txt and search for the error message, near that, you should see something like this:

I doubt you would get it working, even with up-to-date drivers and everything else top-notch with your current graphics card; it's an onboard chip that's not really made for gaming. I'm afraid you'd have to go buy a new graphics card.

Depends on your budget, however a 8800 gts/gt or something thereabouts is a good card for a fairly low price. If you want something more 'cutting edge' I would personally go for a 9800GTX or ATI 4850/4870.

Oh and, while you're there, pick up another stick of RAM. 1gb is very little by todays standard and RAM is very cheap.

In order to tune your system further, you should take a look at your CPU (quite possibly motherboard/PSU) too. Quick suggestions off the top of my head: CPU: E8500, motherboard: asus A5N-D.

You forgot the last line, the one with Pixel/Vertex shaders. However, if I remember correctly, the geforce 6 series is equipped with both vertex and pixel shaders 3.0. But anyway, you only have 512mb ram, you need 1gb at least. For any near-reasonable performance, never get below 2gb.



@Jorky, your system is very outdated too, and fails on vertex/pixel shaders; low performance everything, really. A laptop with your specs is not meant for games like WAR.

Yes, that's the RAM(memory). But there are many factors you need to consider, so if you have any chance to team up with a computer savvy person near you, I advice you to do so as it seems you need to upgrade more than just your RAM to get a reasonable performance. If you have to ask that question then I seriously advise you take your PC to someone who knows how to do this stuff, and dont try to do it yourself.

Alternatively, seeing as we all started somewhere, do a lot of reading up about it on-line first.

just a ram problem ?

guys trying to get war to run on my old pc for the wife(healer), pc meets all min specs except ram which is in post , but getting the critical error report , had a look at debug and could not see anything about pixel and vertex shaders does this mean her radeon 9550 does not support or am i getting crit error from not enough ram ? please help having a nightmare getting her up and running

the 9550 should be right on the bottom of what will run the game. so assuming the CPU meets the requirements it is probly just the ram.

Thx Cas , hope it is just the ram i just did not think this would cause a critical error i was thinking a ram issue would just run the game realy slow ,anyway hope your right should get ram tomorrow i'll post how i got on with that

it depends if the game detects the hardware before it starts then refuses to load if stuff is under spec as for the log's that is how it seems to work.

I'm not sure I understand your question, what you must do though, is team up with a computer savvy person, either professional or a friend, as it seems you need to upgrade quite a few bits of your computer to be able to play the game, at a reasonable performance.

The urgent one is your 'RAM' (memory). Get 2 gb AT LEAST and you should avoid the critical error and actually launch the game. The rest of the hardware should be able to run it at low settings, however I'm unsure how good of a performance it will be.
