My PC is acting a little strangely. Web pages seem to hang, go un responsive and then become active again after 30 seconds or so. Games take alot longer than they should do to start up and my PC feels sluggish at times.

I have ran full Virus searches and also Spyware / Adware searches too both scans dont turn anything up. I have checked to see if my RAM has died on me and as far as I can tell they are all working fine. I was wondering if you clever bods had any other suggestions you could make?

PC - Intel Quad Core 2.4ghz processor. 4GB RAM running Windows VISTA and I have a ATI 4820 graphics card if that makes any kind of difference.

hmm you may want to look at the system logs and see if a disk is possibly failing? my rig used to do that when one of the disks in my raid was being a bit wonky.

The most likely answer is some nefarious update on some piece of software, normally the browser and anti-virus are the main culprits but could be anything, even Adobe and Quicktime install stealthy processes that can eat up CPU, don't forget any add-ons as well (browser plug-ins, widgets, etc) I'd check those out first. The last time something like this happened to me was down to AVG Free Edition running some CPU-sucking scanner.

Another suggestion is to check though the running processes, there are plenty of web resources that can advise on them, look into what is being started on the system, also use a tool like Hijack This to find out what is really installed and running.

Tbh, I've found the same with both Vista and Windows 7, but I was mostly putting it down to my lack of memory (only on 2GB). However, I use the sleep / resume function instead of powering off and on, and that's when I find the system most sluggish. Do you use the same?
