I remember a good few years ago now, there was a post made on the forum which linked to a new web-based cartoon which was set in something like Ancient-China.

It was about a young boy who was a Samurai [Ninja, Martial Artist etc] who was on a quest to, well, just kill things.

The cartoon itself was gory as hell, loads of violence in it. I remember him going on a small boat over to another island, to continue his journey, but it seemed to have been in several parts - Whereas i only seen maybe 1 or 2 episodes of it.

Does anyone recall seeing it/and/or the name of it?

Sure ECA might know though, he probably linked to it originally!

Oh god i was afraid you where gonna ask that, everything is now sketchy at best.

But it was about this young boy, probably no older than 10 years old [Fairly sure his hair was a dark colour]. He was giving a narration throughout this whole story, i am fairly sure he wore a hat - I consider this hat to look like Raydens hat from Mortal Kombat [Used to similar effect!]

He killed a load of bad guys, before one of the big bosses showed up. Sure the boss had a load of "victory trophy-heads" from previous battles on show. However in the end the young boy won. Now, im remembering that the bad guys body went into a lake, and it sank to the bottom. For some reason i feel that his head was cut off/eyes cut out - But thats only vague!

The boy continued on his journey after this and went on a small boat which he got from a stranger [Whom he didnt kill...]

I have the same problem but I think the cartoon I saw was japanese.

It started with a boy and his father racing to get somewhere, the vehicle crashing and the father being unable to go on. He gives his son some kind of radio and tell him to go on. The boy ends up in some kind of run down bio sphere or something and starts talking to some people in a space station, who were friends of his father's. He befriends a weird looking creature that he rides around on until it wanders into a dark room filled with worm like monsters that grab the creature and burrow under it's skin killing it and causing the boy to lose the radio. In the mean time an old man arrives on the space station who is a bit weird but seems to be connected with the boy. The ending is a bit hazy in my head as I was about 10 when I saw it but I think it was something like the boy being killed by birds pecking at his head and the old man dying as well because they were the same person all along or something.

I remember it because it was a bit dark and gruesome to be shown on channel 4 in the morning. Please help because it's been driving me mad for years.

Can you give any more detail?

It isn't striking me as familiar ( I didn't twig ninjai until I heard rayden hat lol ).

Also, do you know if it was a series, movie/etc?

pretty sure it was a movie but could have been a series shown all at once, I think they sometimes did that back then. But it certainly had a movie feel to it. At the time I was under the opinion that they'd made a mistake by showing it in the morning because it didn't seem to be an ideal childrens cartoon.

That's pretty much as specific as I can be, it was so long ago.

didnt say it was a studio ghibli film, itv at the time were doing, while c4 were doing a fair few from the 80s and early 90s, cyber oedoe, lens etc were all on c4 while itv stuck to a handful family type ones

and for the orignal ninjai topic, back when they realeased the last ep they were doing a new series according to thier forums at the time and also began making a live action series. they have been very silent since then tho
