Know exactly what you mean, I could do top 10's for most of the individual bands mentioned. Great era of music with a lot of diversity from punk to electro. So hard to even pick a single Depeche Mode song when I could pick 20 or 30 equally great tunes.

Bands I was really into ranged from Dead Kennedys to Soft Cell depending on mood. Loved just about everything Joy Division / New Order did. Even the early Simple Minds stuff (Sweat in Bullet). Japan....Killing Joke....far too much great music.
