Hi Kronic

Don't worry, even though the processor supports 64-bit operations, it still depends ultimately on the operating system. Most bundled versions of Windows Vista are still 32-bit, so therefore your processor will run in 32-bit mode. This ensures maximum compatibility, so there should be no headaches with regards Warhammar.

As for the choice between AMD and Intel, I'd definitely recommend Intel. Intel's Centrino 'family' of mobile components, which includes the Core 2 Duo processor, definitely outclasses AMD's mobile offerings.

Kind regards

Taken from the january grab bag:

Q: I'm interested if the game will have a 64-bit client side executable, to take advantage of the next generation of CPU bit levels, and huge ram address-space. I'm also interested in what parts of the "server" end will be available to players who like to develop 3rd party tools for games, such as Character information, zone statistics, battle outcomes, and other interesting numbers that we can crunch into web apps, or window apps, or chat bots :)

A: Part of your question, I can answer – we're planning to track quite a bit on the Herald, and information flowed to the website will mostly be available via XML. Tool-building players, who take advantage of the data the Herald team gives over, are some of our favorite people in the world.

For the rest of the answer, I turn you over to EA Mythic's CTO, Matt: "We have no firm plan for a 64bit version; we are experimenting with it, though. Whether it is viable/cost effective to release and support is unknown at this time."

"Some server information is expected to be exported and available, we are still determining how much, when, and in what format at this time."

"Sorry to be so vague, but that's about all I can say publicly at this time."

It really is early for this kind of thing. I expect to have a clearer picture when Beta 3 begin

hehe, actually I was just speaking generally :) Truth be told, I couldn't tell you the first thing about Warhammer or any of these types of games (I'm scared of what they'd do to my ever-diminishing free time).

Kind regards

Jonty

P.S. As Aesgir pointed out, the software itself also has to be 64-bit alongside the operating system and hardware, sorry for my oversight.

You've got at least a few more years yet on the client side of anything before worrying about 64bit, the main reason some people have started going 64bit because they like to have loads of unused ram.

ok thanks for all your help,

from my conclusion, its fine to run on a 64bit processor using a 32 bit operationing system, therefore all 32bit software will work fine on this computer.
