When I read the first few posts, I pictured 50 Cents getting sh1t (yes real sh1t!) flung at him. What a funy image.

Gut feeling: I suspect 50Cent is racist.

i dunno whats wrong with the kids of today tbh,

in my day and age we used to fill the bottles with wee wee before throwing them at the stage

On a slightly related not does anyone remember the story of Mike Patton and one of these bottles of wee whilst Faith No More were on tour with Guns N Roses. At a date in Spain I think it was, a couple of people threw empty water bottles onstage, which the band loved, so they encouraged fans to throw everything they had. At one point someone obviously followed JBP's advice and urinated in a bottle and threw that stage. The band drew attention to this, at which point Patton picks up the bottle, takes the lid off and pours the contents all over his head. Cue one speechless audience.

50 Cent is a pussy.

The bottle fight at download festival this year when we were waiting for Metallica was sheer class. There was hundreds of people, a front line, no mans land, some shoes and a crazy guy with a whistle. It was fun.

I didn't go to Leeds this year because of the poo line up. I would of cheered on any bottle throwers if I had been there though.

Throwing bottles at shit acts is a quintessential part of a festival, expecting people to not throw bottles is like expecting everyone to remain sober and have good clean fun, which is just fucking boring tbh. As said before booking an act like 50 Cent for a rock festival would be clearly retarded, if the organisers were booking him for the music. Fortunately they only put bad acts there to be bottled.

You all seem to be forgetting that Reading/Leeds is mostly populated by those celebrating GCSE results.

So childish reactions to "poor" music is bound to happen.

And it's not like the bottles are made of glass. Poor old 50, I'm sure the couple of plastic bottles that hit him really compared to getting shot in the jaw.

That said, I did feel slightly sorry (about 2% sorry) for The Rasmus. Bit of a double-edged sword really the indie industry - get too popular and you're slated for selling out and "becoming mainstream", but stay on the fringe and you're never gonna make the billing at the festivals.

Rasmus those old skool die-hard indie kids! Signed the mainstream hatin', duffel coat lovin record label 'Warner' since 95.

Aye Bottles tossing is part of a festival, atleast over here it was untill all major festivals decided that taking bottles on the grounds was banned for safty reasons, ofcourse that year all drink prices on the grounds sky rocketed aswell sure the two are unrelated ofc.

some stupid festivals even banned the sale of alcohol for a while (they had NA beer)

It is childish and immature to do things like that, but when its someone who "sings" or rather talks about the tripe that 50 cent does, i'm more glad that he walked off, his "music" is absolute tripe and hardly comes close to being considered as "music".

50 cent, is indeed a complete wanker, 'nuff said. :p

As the guy who booked 50 for the festival said "50 was laughing all the way to the bank"

dude only had to perform for 20 minutes, and a bunch of 17 year old pissed up middle glass rock kids aren't gonna keep 50s records from selling, or covince anyone that he's shit.

I didn't see him leave the stage, but as I walked past the crowd I could see the missiles heading towards the stage - they looked like tracer rounds with all those spotlights.

In a sense the rabble suceeded though, when they bottled off the Rasmus and held up that banner the organisers stuck the dropkick murphys on early - exactly what the little pisshead 14 year olds wanted.

Only band I caught more than about 5 minutes of were placebo... but I got out onto the main field late and missed half their set, watching from about half a mile away :(

Chucking bottles of piss at idiots on stage has been a tradition of the english music scene for time immemorial. And long may it continue.

Reading is far too young. I might go back one year, if I have my own camper van and breathing apparatus for the second day where everyone decides wood is too expensive and starts burning plastic, but there is no way I'd camp there again.

And the throwing bottles thing... I remember a bottle fight in the audience when I went. Rather pretty... all these plastic bottles flying through the air... gently bouncing off people and being caught, and thrown again... Until some moron decided to add their 2l bottle of coke, half full, to my face. I went down like a sack of shit.

Yeah, it was the wrong time to put 50cent in, but Reading is a bit of a joke really. All these feral GCSE kids, tipping over toilets and pulling down lights. Yeah, great, you're anarchists, you're rebelling, against a festival especially designed for people like you. Cooooool. Fight the system.

You can tell by just how polluted the air is that the place is riddled with youthful stupidity. Mmmm.... Dioxins.... But that's what Readings meant to be. That's what I was like when I was there. Drunk, stupid, young and enjoying it. You can't expect a bunch of drunk 15 year olds to act politely about 50cent, especially when outside the festival the majority of people who like 50cent are the people that beat the crap out of them. Of course, I think it's a real pity to boo a band off stage, and a shame for those people who wanted to see it, but it's not unexpected.
