now then. i have been playing my shammy for a while and always following my original spec: 46 cave 26 mend 10 aug. that is meant to gimme grp friggs, best AE DoT and lots of damage with the DoT too.

yesterday i talked to a lvl 50 shammy, and looked at some forums, for i am about to get lvl 40 and if i want to choose a spec, i gotta respec my mending now (if going less than 16 mend, that i have now)

i have made 3 specs for me, one of which will be my lvl 50 spec:

46 cave (best AE DoT) 26 mend (grp friggs) 10 aug (all points that are left over)

41 cave (best bolt & DD, 2nd best AE DoT), 14 mend (points left over) 32 aug (grp end regen)

46 cave (best AE DoT), 17 mend (points left over), 22 aug (best single-target end regen)

now, that shammy i talked to told me that i rarley use AE DoT in battle anyways, however was in RvR for first time last night and used it quite a lot, it was the main thing i got my 7k rp with.

any support?

Ask in mid forum. This is not a newbie question.
Btw I'm not having a go at you, i'm just suggesting you're more likely to get a useful answer from Middies :p

My shammy has 41cave 14mend 32 aug, and from what I read this is meant to be the best RvR spec for a shammy at the moment. Reasons for choosing it are as follows:

Cave 41
Best Bolt and DD, 2nd best AOE dot (limited use anyway except keep attacks and defence)

Mend 14
Errm lacks badly with spec, but sacrafices have to come from somewhere, you have baseline heals and base res. Heals have massive varience so get plenty of +mend Items to try and cut this down. You dont have group frig, but to be honest, in RvR battle frigs are just too slow to be much use, 1 tick every 14 seconds doesnt cut it, I have emptied my mana bar on people getting nuked before and still not been able to been able to keep up with the healing

Aug 32
You have group end regen at 32, this is the biggest boost that you can give your realm, makes a massive difference in PvE and PvP, tanks go run round using high end styles til they are dead or the oppenents all are. You also with longwind 1 have permasprint. Lower single target versions are great too, but it is bad enough casting group end once every ten minutes, I think casting the single one on all your group would drive you potty. You also have 16% heat resist buff and 8% for the others.

Other specs that shammys follow are

High Aug RvR 36cave 15mend 37aug: with aug acuity 2 you will be capping the the buffs are you have second to top ones, you have second to best AOE dot, bolt/DD and the specable res.

or maybe high aug/mend: 27cave 27mend 38 aug. Great buffs resists and good healing, but remember shammys dont heal well (as get none of the high specable heals) good frigs for downtime and get the lvl 27 disease/snare which is usefull with sprint to escape the tank beating on you

Lastly I would say, when you can afford it realm point wise, get MCL (sooo useful and gets even better in 1.59 where it seems to fill 50% of your mana bar) and Ichor (life saver and/or great battle opener from massive range)

The group end regen will make you much loved. The top end DoT will make you feared. Granite, the top RPing Shaman on either Excal or Pryd, has the top end DoT and uses it to great effect.

It really depends how you want to play, but both 46/22/17 or 41/32/14 are great specs.

Usually though, AE damage spells are not used in RvR, save keep take/defense. This is why high cave isn't very useful for damage dealing. It is probably the most fun spec.

However speccing high aug might be a very boring option as you can't deal much damage. You will improve your group's performance greatly and everyone likes that. But that's not very fun for you.

My Shaman will be going 37Aug 36Cave and 15Mend

Getting all second best buffs and second best bolt/dd/aoedot, and with the little mend the better Rez.
