I have 2 gig of ram , its Geil PC2 6400. CPU-Z says this is 400mhz, but I assume as far as the ads go its the same as this stuff here?

Also, is that right XP can only use 3 gig of ram? Or see 3 gig? Or am I going mental?

It is right about XP and the 3gb, Vista sees/uses way more than XP.

The other bit I will leave to Kryt to give a definitive answer luv (probably about your power supply or something) :D

It depends. A 32 bit OS cannot see more than 3 gig for that you will need a 64 bit OS.

Standard (32 bit) XP can only see 3gig but the 64 bit version can see more.

Not overly sure about Vista, whether it even comes in a 32 bit flavour but the ultimate version I use can see over 3 (I use 8)

It's 800.... :)

With the 32bit versions of XP and Vista you'll be stuck at 3gb
You'll need 64bit XP or Vista to use more....

Didn't know that about 32 and 64 bit Vista, I just assumed both used more. I have only ever had the 64 bit so what the fuck do I know.

The 64 bit XP was aids stricken imo, drivers for it made my piles cry.

This is incorrect. Server 2003 32-bit will see up to 32Gb :)

Right well at least I know it's 800 :) Not sure it's worth buying 2 gig of ram just to only use 1 gig. Maybe Vista is calling, god help me.

Thing is, when I play a game like Company of Heroes for an hour or two, afterwards my pc runs slow for a bit, then its ok. I assume its a memory thing.

Given how cheap RAM is at the mo, I'd go for an extra 2gb. If you end up upgrading your OS then you'll be able to make use of it.
