Or not, apparently the reason it was booked for a weekend was to avoid a national holiday.

edit;// my bad, just read it's a Friday.

The PM did say if it was a saturday we would still have a BH during the week to allow the nation to celebrate

I think the Royal haters shouldnt be allowed the BH. Im in favour of them, the whole we pay for them is bollocks but im not going to go into all that here, this is about free holidays

No such thing as a "free" holiday Sparx, it's employers who will pay for this, not the Crown or the State.

The day does change every year though ;)

For example; 2012 29th will be a sunday.

Yeah, our bank holidays don't work like that Toht, they always fall on a Monday or Friday, the date changes every year.

Oh. So you get a holiday on a friday/monday no matter what? That's handy.

Bit weird, considering that it's a wedding date or some such, but handy :D

Learn something new every day.

It's fairly short sighted that view Sparx, we have it sweet in this country when it comes to holidays and employee rights, but people often still want more without thinking of the long term implications to their employers.

When employers lose money for one "free days of party!", it always(most often) comes out of the employee fund.

Be it recreation days, supplies, new tech, bonuses, etc.

And what about all the small - medium sized employers out there who are already struggling due to the economy?

It's not humbug, it's reality.
