Yet ANOTHER pc gaming company is being forced to close its doors...

To our valued customers:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you've given 3dfx over the years. Through all our ups and downs, we've always been proud of our extremely loyal customers and fans. That's what makes our recent actions so difficult.

Although we've done our best to avoid taking drastic action, we have finally been forced to admit that there is no possible way we can continue in our current state. As such, we have negotiated an agreement with nVidia that will allow us to provide the best possible result to our creditors, investors, employees and customers.

Under this agreement, nVidia will acquire certain, specific assets from 3dfx including technology, company and product brands and other assets. In addition, the 3dfx board of directors has recommended to our shareholders the dissolution of the company over the next few months. Until that time, however, 3dfx products will remain available at various retail and online locations, and we will continue to support our current and future customers. For additional information, please see the press releases that were issued by 3dfx on December 15, 2000.

While we firmly believe this agreement is in the best interest of all involved, we deeply regret these actions. Again, we want to extend our sincerest thanks to every one of you who helped 3dfx revolutionize 3D graphics and 3D gaming on the PC.

Sincerely,
Scott Sellers
3dfx Founder and CTO

Voodoo 1 changed my gaming life.

It allowed me to play Quake 2 properly on my old P166.

Voodoo 3 stunk of shit though.

My old V2 is in my second computer and appears to have forgotten how to work. Everything is turned down to minimum.
I lost the original driver disk so that may be the problem (i'm using reference drivers from 3dfx's webby).

When I first got it though, instantly creamed underwear, total knock out. Quake 2 on my old P200 MMX (with 16 MB of RAM !!! ).

There's a bad thing about all this:(

Bleedy nvidia and the 6 month bring out a new card and charge a insane amount of money for it:p

Dunno about you, but 415 quid for a gfx card is insane imho.

Still saps like me pay it:eek:

I still run a Voodoo2. Why get rid of it? It runs along side any other graphics card and for the old school games that run WAY better in Glide. Unreal and UT for example. I got a TNT2 m64 and although it's great for CS and stuff (IMHO) it sucks shit on stuff like UT..so I use my V2 and it's smooth as anything.

I had a V1 and played GLQuake on my P90. That was very cool. Then I got a V2 and I've loved it ever since.

pffft.

See. The V2 still reigns supreme! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh and as for the M64, I'm gonna sell it to my dad for the same price as a new GF2 MX. :)

Me? Dishonest? Naaaaaah....

Speaking of all this lot actually..what's better for performance / price? A Kryo II or a GF 2 MX?

According to the reviews for OpenGL games Kyro II is best although I've heard some complaints about compatibilty and D3D performance...
