2 grey albs ganked in DF today

I owe you an apology - I shouldn't have ganked you. One was a cabby and another had melee weapons.

To explain - I had a great group in DF with my runemaster. Along comes Vladimir and his friend and I'm promptly XP-killed. I accept that deaths occur in frontiers, but in my fury I wanted to kill Vladimir and company for spoiling the chance to gain 2 or 3 quick levels.

I arrived back in DF and they had logged (lame). Seems a trend these days for some (not all note, some) albs to log on for 20 mins at mid grey area in DF and kill before logging. How leet. No chance for a decent 50 v 50 fight.

Anyway, I gathered a crew and ventured into alb territory to spank greens plus, but only met 1 yellow con and a green. When I saw 2 greys I was still foaming at the mouth over missing out on great xp and the hammer swung

So I'm sorry. I won't gank solo greys that are clearly no threat to me.

I'm not sure if it was me on this occassion since I have been away this week but I am usually the person accompanying Vladimir. For the record we are two tanks (I'm a paladin, he is a merc) and to be able to do this we have to cross DF, that is not easy, which is why once we have done it we will sometimes log at the Mid side, not I might add the 'grey' areas but whereever we can log in safety. We then log back in in the hope of finding the odd yellow con we can surprise, as two tanks unless we surprise a caster class we will generally lose. (Stun, nuke nuke nuke, we have no range to fight back with).

We've been doing this for a long time, our policy is to not give xp-deaths to greys and we do try to stick to that, if you ask around I'm sure you'll find people that can verify it, recently we accidentally xp-killed a grey troll and on realising we moved away so the healer with him could rez. And yes it does happen accidentally sometimes in the heat of a fight I don't notice the con of something until afterwards.

We rarely log and relog as you imply, as we are too stupid and once we're there we keeping looking for fights until we run into too many enemies and die, in fact we only usually log there when Albs have entrance and we've run out of people to fight.

Why do we do this? Simple if you find me a place where two tanks (alone) can do anything at all then I'll happily go there. Unlike a number of Mid stealth classes who grief the grey areas on the Alb side, we are easily seen and located.

Oh and here's the usual disclaimer, you know the risks of DF its a RvR area, the only good Mid is a dead Mid etc etc

Let's see if this jogs your memory. Our party was fighting deamhanesses and soultorns on the way to the mid rocot area. We were getting top xp as we had 1 lvl 50 assisting us, the norsewoman healer Azra. Our grey party consisted of:

Giselle - my runie, kobold
Bare - dwarf
Ultrasonic - troll
Tamian - kobbie
Icedeath (?) - Norse
Askelon - Norse

I came back with Ebeneezer quite quickly and couldn't find you. No report of Vladimir's or the other perons death came through, so where did they go???

Yes that was me - and we were killed by a Skald/Thane combo right near the top of the rocot area very shortly afterwards, I believe we killed one yellow con troll (seemingly afk) in between times - we didn't log.

And btw we didn't give you the xp-death your group attacked us first in an area they would clearly get aggro. And I didn't notice it was a group mainly of greys since I was mezzed most of the fight and then beating on the yellow con Norse

Damn seems i missed this trip to mid side DF. Im normally with Javai, Vladimir etc.

For some strange reason the other night when i was @ hib side DF i decided to let a grey con lurikeen live. We bowed waved etc and he carried on xp'in. His name was Lurhkeen or something like that, he may read these forums and vouch for me.

P.S. Wednesday night this week around 2fg's of mid's came alb side ganking all they could right up to our merchs. I dont recall them not killing greys. Im not moaning cos its all part of the GAME .

This sounds like a whine because your alt got killed in DF while you were getting power levelled

I remember this fight, shame you don't know all the facts before you post lame flames.

Quite frankly I couldn't give a monkeys what con your alt was, I'm not a stealther class I don't have the time to click on every party member and work out whether it's "fair" to attack this group. The only people I won't kill are grey con opponents that I find on less than 50% health since I KNOW this will be an xp death.
If you are stupid enough to run into agro, then that is your own fault, if you hadn't run you wouldn't have got an xp death.

I don't really think this thread deserves an explaination, we were 2 tanks running through the Mid side of DF while Mids had access, we came across a full group of Mids, at least one of which was yellow con, who ALL joined in the fight and we killed them, I don't really think this requires justification.

I'm not quite sure what you are complaining about here. Are you complaining that we didn't appraise each mid individually during the fight? Are you saying we should only have killed the healer and then left everyone else to give our location away, that we should ignore the other party members who were hitting us because they were lower level? Are you complaining that I didn't clear the way of purple con mobs so your runnie could make a safe get away?
So you tell me Ebeneezer what should 2 tanks do in that situation? Head the other way into 3-4fg of mids? Hang around chatting to some low levels until the fg of 50s they alerted arrives?

As for us logging, you should get some facts straight first, we never logged. We continued up the slope until we got to the Rocots, then Hulbur and his Skald pal caught up with us and killed us.

DF is a RvR area, I have had my alts killed in there too, usually by either lone stealthers or 3-4fg of hibs/mids, only I don't come here and whine about it.

I fully respect the - dont gank greys policy - they dont pose a threat other than being able to warn their friends about you, and they can do that even if you kill them.

was in uppland the other day and saw 2 mids comming out - dwarf caster (or was it healer, cant even remember ), and a norseman fighter, and so I of course attacked them with all the heavinly bravery given to me by god (yeah, I´m a pally). after I hit the first I saw he was grey con, stopped hitting him, checked the norseman, grey too - simply /bow to them both and ran away.

I see no real reason to kill those greys, simply not worth annoying ppl so much by killing them, when they gain you so little. In return I would however expect that they dont follow you, and keep friends informed of your wherabouts - if they do they are fair to kill imo, as they ruin your chance to hide.

Yeah I went off the rails because I've had a real job lvlling her recently as she doesn't have PBT (for a reason ). Had some rotten luck in Muspelheim and then I thought my time had come...uber xp in DF with a 50 healer stunning the mobs. A nice ticket to three quick levels thankyou very much...until

To Javai - we heard the fighting and went to look and yes we saw you fighting a deamhaness. Our healer went for you with mezz, but Vlad headed straight for Bare (kobold runie) then me.

Sure shit happens and I can take it, but it was an opportunity missed to become green con so you guys can gank her with impunity Oh and probably earn 1 RP

Don't belittle me. You chased me so I ran. After all I'm not about to present a lamer even one free RP. What's stupid about avoiding giving you a gift? Besides, where I ran to has no mobs normally, so mobs clearly got aggroed in the fight.

As for fault that's shite mate. You have to click on me to kill. You had dispatched the healer so you knew I was grey. Had your presence not been there I would not have had an xp-death, simple as that. Ergo, you are responsible.

Go pour yourself a cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully reread what I said originally. Let me quote myself:

Let me spell this out for you as your clearly struggling with the gist of my message. I said that I accept frontier deaths, but I was pissed at missing out on good xp. That's my whole point. Nobody likes XP deaths but they occur. This thread is primarily about missing out bypassing some of the tedious XP grind.

Of course, as a secondary point I do think it's lame to kill greys now. I can't argue that we greys tried to help the healer...who wouldn't? But I'll stress again, RvR and xp deaths are EXPECTED, but the disappointment I felt of heading back to lesser XP spots coupled with the lack of a chance to give you a better fight prompted my post.

I'll be honest...had I had to fight a yellow with a pack of greys I would kill all the greys too. However, if a grey had an XP death as a result I'd feel sorry for them. You don't appear to have any remorse (and I'm not asking you to either).

Erm was the melee Alb dressed in Black and silver plate, with a 2H scimitar? Remeber being in DF and a cabby going down, the next thing i new I'd been paralyzed and was being hacked in to wee pecies.

If so the Cabby was 28 and im only 38
