1H vs 2H

Example:

I am a warrior using Shield and 1H sword. I see an Armsman using polearm. Now, should i switch to 2H sword against this armsman, as he will parry more when i use 1h against him?

Best thing to do vs Armsmen is to slam, put up 2h, take two good swings at him and then to switch again to 1h. You really want to avoid their polearm since most of them have thrust dmg which chain armor is vulnerable to

Ok, but that was not the point, say he used 2h sword then. Would it be better to fight him with 2H ?

I think it varies if the Armsmam is in a group or not . I've noticed that if the Armsman is in group, I hardly ever block. However, if i'm 1 on 1 vs armsman, I parry and block much more. But regarding to your question I think you should use 1h + shield if the armsman has 2h weapon since you get twice more chances or parrying against 2h...I think
But don't ask me i'm just a stupid troll

If he's using a polearm, and you have 1h+shield, you can parry AND block him, while he can only parry you.

Middie 2h does less than Alb 2h and Polearm, also less than Hib LW and Spear. The Midgard equivalent to Polearm/Spear for damage output is LA. If you have the 42 shield spec needed for Slam I think its best to stick with 1h+shield until you get Slam in then switch 2h for a couple of swings, then back to 1h+shield to finish them off.

That said, I still notice that I block a lot less vs grouped people than I do against soloers. e.g. when a solo infil jumps my healer I block around 15-20% of the attacks yet against grouped people I am lucky to block anything at all.

stick with 1h+shield (after you slam+2h swing swing switch to 1h shield) as having a 2h weapon swinging at you (pole in this case)cuts your chance of parrying by 50%

same as dualwielding (DW/LA/CD) cuts your block chance by 50%
