Nope, just need to get an idea for the period, what people wear, how they spoke etc. (so a film is ideal)

English based? The Sharpe novels are all based around the Napoleanic era which lasted right up to 1815. Apart from that I am at a loss right now apart from 'Gallows Theif' which is set in 1820's London if I recall.

Ohh good point, so far my reference consists of "Condiser yourself... at home.. consider yourself .. one of the family"

Amadeus - The incredible story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, told in flashback mode by Antonio Salieri - now confined to an insane asylum.

Searched IMDB for 1820 and found this

If google aint working for you (!) why not get yourself down to your local library and ask the staff for a selection of materials in the decade you're after. Old school.

Edit: I'm sure Thomas Hardy wrote around then...

Now researching 1820's porn would be something...:)

(of course everything was black-n-white in those days...)

Made me giggle when an episode of the Simpsons.

The Simpson family were being told a story by a crazy bum they met on a train and one of his tall tales was about a young girl called Connie Appleseed.

To get to the point, in this story they fell down a waterfall which turned out to be a log flume, complete with photos of the fall

One of them was of a girl who went after the Simpsons, flashing her privates which was her ankle!

Class :D
