I need a 12v portable supply to run a mobile pressure washer. The pressure washer has a ciggarette lighter socket thing as its meant to be run from a car.

However, I want to run it in the basement of my apartment and have no car, is there a portable battery with such a socket?

Oh and nor do I have access to a normal 3 pin socket too.

Can't help you there Darth, sorry. I know they do 3pin to 12v adapters for plug sockets because we've got one in the office.

The best electrical parts supplier I know is called RS Components (Welcome to rswww.com) if that helps.

In the old CB days (f*ck, that hurts to read) I use to use a regulated 13.8v power supply to run my rigs, as these units were design to be wired into a cars. I'd guess these are still available and would be work for what you need.

No idea on todays pricing. I use to pay £10 - £20 for mine from Parks 2nd hand shop in birkenhead north. But he long gone :)

Or a quick google pulls up something like this.

Sorry Darthy, but that will be for plugging the charger into your car's cigarette lighter to recharge it, not to get 12V power out of the unit...

Just spoken to my brother and it DOES have a cig lighter socket (the female part) to plug INTO, I.e on the unit :D

You need to know the wattage of the device you're intending to power. From that you can work out the current draw, and then choose a power supply.

You can easily make a 1,5 - 32Vdc - 5A supply by using LM338
