Is that fast enough for an LCD monitor?
Games (Source) and general stuff.
Buying tomorrow and can save £100 over an 8ms screen.
LG 1915S 19" LCD Monitor - Silver (MO-010-LG) £220.84 Including VAT @ Overclockers.

The Dell 2405FPW or (whatever the model number is) is 12ms isn't it? Seems as good as my 16ms monitor.

Hi guys

Not to add anything new, but yes, 12ms should be fine (I have a 12ms display and notice no problems, but even my 25ms display seems fine for the most part). There's currently a race to the bottom, with 4ms being the fastest response time available, but if 12ms+ is fine I doubt there's really much call for anything like that.

Happy shopping :)

Kind Regards

Jonty

P.S. If you're not fussed about using OcUK, Pixmania sell that model for £206. If you choose to buy, get rid of the 'Zen Engagement' nonsense they add to your shopping cart, drop the delivery down to 2-3 days, and add the promo code priceuk050505 and it comes to around £205 including VAT and delivery. I've used them before to purchase a camera and they proved very good.

I have two TFTs, one is a 19" 25 ms panel, the other is a 17" 16ms panel.

The 25 ms panel is crap for gaming, the end. The 16 ms panel is much, much better and i notice no ghosting or smearing.

However, neither of them are as good as my old Iiyama 19" CRT; but that's be a no brainer.

May god have mercy on your soul :eek7:

Overclockers on a Saturday is fearful to say the least.

Expect snide comments, awful service, and arrogant retards....oh and waiting....always the waiting.

Be sure you know the directions as well Yucky, if you haven't been before that is. If you want my mobile number to help with finding it PM me.

I've a Benq fp767 12ms, and found Quake 3 not so bad regarding responsiveness ... but the blur generated by lots of on-screen movement is annoying. Remember that LCD monitors display only ONE resolution, and that any other resolution is made up by stretching the image across the screen and by using sub-pixel cleverness; lower resolution = blurred image to begin with. So, as long as you have a beefy graphics card that can run decently at your monitor's resolution - or are willing to turn down the sparklies, bells, whistles, flutes and whatnot a bit more than usual - then you're sorted.

That's very true, trying to run in the monitor's native resolution is important to maintain image quality. Some displays seem better than others in producing nice images even at non-native resolutions, but a powerful system is a must, especially as LCDs enter the high-definition resolution realm.

Kind Regards

This is why I had to upgrade my computer after I bought a 1680x1050 screen :)

Obviously you've never been in scan.co.uk any day of the week....

*overheard conversation in the queue*

"I wonder if US Robotics have managed to sort out that BIOS problem with their latest modem"

*dies*

You've never seen such a motley collection of 60 year old nerds. They have tubes of Clearasil at strategic points in the queue as well.

I picked it up last night, i didn't get there until just after 5:30, so no queues :)
I set it up for it's native res (1280/1024) and refresh(60 hertz), and it is working nicely. I've run CSS and Far Cry at 1024/768 with no issues. Sooo much better and bigger than my old 17" crt.
