Thats bloody interesting. After all these years they find another planet.

Just goes to show, they don't know as much as they think they do.

Really shite name though :/

Chances are they'll change that name to a God, but only after a bit of argument.

Either I am psychic (unlikely) or this was announced before. If memory serves the object is large enough to affect other bodies in the solar system but is not large enough to be considered a planet ... more of an asteroid really.

But then I might be thinking of something else entirely...

Name it 'a' god? There is only one god. Call it the planet "god".

apparently its going to be called Sedna, after the Inuit Goddess of the Sea.

perhaps I wasnt clear.
the other planets apart from Earth (and now Sedna).
I have no idea why Earth is called "Earth", rather than being named after a mythological God/Goddess.

Sorry guys but I'm pretty fucking sure bcak in 2004 they found a huge planetoid (NOT planet) smaller than jupiter and tehy named that Sedna. So i'm a bit fucking confused as to why they've named the new planet/plantoid( cos if u think about pluto isn't a planet it's fucking tiny like smaller and WAY less denser than OUR moon).

Anyway I am confused not sure what's going on

nasa sedna

wikipedia sedna

Sedna is smaller than Pluto, and is not classed as a planet.

The new find is larger, and is classed as a planet.

noooooooo no no, it's not been classifieed as a planet in fact I very much doubt it will be.

this is what will happen

pluto will be said not to be a planet, but for historial reasons will b allowed it's clssification, wheres as the new planetoid will be called something else. I HIGHLY doubt it can be considered a planet.

"is earth a god?" Well! *gets out history book*

Earth's name isn't earth, but is actually named tellus, or Gaia in greek, Goddess of the earth and all nature.

There.

in any case there are only 8 planets, because pluto isn't big enough to be a planet.. :touch:
