helloo and good morning guys and gals of F:HOT,

yes, I know I really should just buy a manual or somethign but you guys are so much more undestandable lol. I have on my PC 2 accounts, 1 for study with everything set up on desktop for assignments and all study faves in bookmarks etc and one for play and general doings with all silly faves and stuff.

Since I went over to mozilla (which is awesome btw thx for recommendation!) I cannot get inet on my play account, and thats a real shit because I have my captain kirk desktop on that one :( they are both set up as admin accounts and I cannot think of any reason (...or lawful impediment, why these two accounts shall not be legally...) why I can't get on it on there?

Any ideas?

Thank you and have a nice day!

First of all, having 2 separate admin accounts on _your_ computer, one for play and one for work - well, it just doesn't make any sense.

With that said, if by inet, you mean www access, it could be caused by a proxy which you have on your "working" account, but which completely lacks in the play account. Check the network - advanced settings in firefox.

But if by "inet" you mean that internet is simply not working, regardless of activity / protocol, it must be something else. At which point I would say use just one account, especially since you don't wanna learn too much about computers.

ah, for my work account I have the uni vpn and stuff all set up and help notes and study materials available on the desktop...I kind of need them both to be admin because I cba faffing and switching when I just want to alter something. the play one is just where I usually do my non-study related stuff and by inet I mean when I go to activate mozilla it says server unavailable try again...all the time!

I would love to learn more about computers and have learned a fair bit (which to you guys would seem like 'the basics' but I consider major stuff...like where's the on button) but wanting to have the knowledge and understanding it are two different things ;)

Edit: ooh hehe I went into the network thingy and settings and stuff and had to do something involving serial numbers but got there in the end! thanks for the advice!

On Internet Explorer
Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings. Do you have "Use automatic configuration script" ticked? If Yes, you may need to copy that into Firefox as its a proxy you'd use through the vpn connection.

Firefox
Toos > Options > Advanced > Network (tab) > Settings. Try changing to auto detect, then restart firefox once you click all the OK's. If it dont work, paste the 'gubbings' from IE into Manual Proxy Configuration
