Sooo whats the story with rangas, what spec are people goin and any ideas on templates....... yeah i've looked in templates section & vn boards nothing there so dont move this please

99.9% of rangers will be speccing bow above 42+

Then pierce 44+.. 50 totaly stealth rest CD...

100% of rangers gonna be getting pwned...

my impression so far is it basically has no defense penetration. In pure melee I cannot see how its possible to kill any class with defense... On paper you should get slaugthered by maulers, frairs, light tanks, heavy tanks.. basically everything...

V sneaks your gonna get dropped by assasins. your gonna get raped by scouts and hunters....

the new archery system is a reduction in bow DPS in favour or more style varierty and a crit shot that will penetrate defenses (if it dont miss)...

The ranger class compared to other is not only weak is completly uncompetative.

You might be able to make the game playable if your high RR got lots of toys and play solid but tbh i dont see it.

Dont think your gonna find too many solo rangers kicking around after the initial 1.88 fluff factor wears off.

the good news is mythic will address it but it will prolly take 6 month to 1 year before they realise theres a problem and think of some half ass solution :) (prolly the increase CD defense penetration and actually give rangers something unique to their class, as pathfinding was given to scouts for free, maybe ranger should get spec shield or hunter pet?)

In the first few weeks of 1.88 I'm sure a lot of rangers will be dusted off to see what has happened to them, people will soon realise they are totally unable to defend themselves in straight up melee, with the loss of PD aswell sees a hit to defence.

That being said bow damage will be more consistant (be it lower), I'd imagine with the server populations as they are, most rangers will feel bowspec is the way to go as we can't kill jack in melee.

Only problem with bowspec is you need twrs/keeps to attack from, that are being actively attacked, i.e you need siege warfare to make any rp's.

The cluster is pretty much dead for this action unless you are on at 3/4/5am.

The future looks bleak for the ranger class, add to the the large numbers of scouts that will appear.

Good luck those still playing rangers will need it.

yer its quite funny when you hear the OP ranger omg nerf... very few people in the game know as much about the class as I do...

the melee ranger was really playable... you could get stuck into assasins (but also get virtually insta pwned by the high RR good ones)... You could go at a lot of visual melee classes.. on paper you would get prawned but you "could" win... it was possible.

Hunters and scouts in the right hands could rumble you down as a ranger no problem....

If was a good class that even in its most "OP FOTM" days had half the pop of assasins....

PD was put in to give the archers some form of defense... I still dont rate it that much... its gone... tough shit.. bad decision but doesnt really bother me.

things that bother me are giving pathfinding to scouts. that makes zero sense.

giving hunters a sneaky free WS boost a few patches ago bothers me because its totally uncalled for. They can achieve way high WS than the other archer classes. the pet boosts as well are way over the top... without the pet the hunter class totally outperforms a ranger in melee with 1 spec line. with a pet its just ridiculous.

Rangers to be fixed need defense penetration and they need a significant increase in it as well... I would be in favour of a +200 WS boost. Or an insta buff accuracy boost... Or change CD mechanics so every point of CD gives .5% less chance for opponent to EVADE BLOCK OR PARRY. Either that or give them parry... seriously they need something juicy.

At the moment ive tested the ranger with a solid enough blades template 50 blade 50 50 cd 1600 WS 790AF. I cant hit jack shit.. I really cant... after some fights I go back and check the logs and just think omg. You wont kill anything with spec spec. you wont kill anything with HOT... you wont basically kill any other classes unless they are sort of rogish.. or very low RR.

maybe i just sux balls!

heh well censi I get blocked LOADS on a merc with 2100 WS, so no wonder a ranger with 1600 will hit shit... this patch is really stupid tbh. Trying to fight a warrior these days is the same like banging your head on a brick wall.

and thats how the class should be played.. its the way all archers should have been played :l its a shame mythic are to blind to fix them properly.

50 bow was what every single archer in daoc had for like the first year... it was the FOTM spec.... it become less fotm as bow slowly got raped patch after patch..

1.88 = 50 bow is again the FOTM spec...

I will be having an 8 stealth sword on my back to boost stealth to 11 when running around ...

Also as a celt you might want more + archery speed... unless you intend on getting higher aug dex ofc :p get around 408-410 dex and you won't need any + archery speed at all... where as having around 370 (10 at creation + your 100) you'll still need almost max + archery speed to cap me finks. (not that it will be a massive difference :p just a suggestion tho since your focusing on archery 100%)

1.88 = 50 bow is again the FOTM spec...

FOTM = Flavour of the Month, as i never change my spec according to whats the in-thing (in fact i have never respecced bow), I don't consider myself fotm (although I do seem to be perpetually gimped). I just like playing an archer as an archer :)
