Test Version 1.71d Release Notes

===================================

NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES

Ingame Map System

With this version, the new ingame map system makes its debut. Players will be able to use these maps to help them navigate throughout their realm and frontier zones.

- To view the map window, type /map.

- The map window can show region and zone maps for those zones in the current region you are in (for example: if your character is in an SI zone, you will be able to see the SI region map and all SI zone maps). The maps are selectable through a drop down menu at the top of the map interface window.

- All maps have an indicator that shows your current location.

- Zone maps show major points of interest, horse stable merchants, horse routes, and terrain (mountains, lakes, etc).

- Each map has a zone description which can be turned on and off.

- You can also choose to "track" your location on the map by clicking the "Follow" button. When this is toggled, your map will change automatically when your location moves to another map (for example, when riding a horse from one zone to another).

- New Frontiers ocean zones are included in the ingame map system.

- City maps are not currently ready for testing. Placeholder maps are visible when attempting to use /map in a city area.

- Dungeon maps will not be available with the ingame map system.

MASTER LEVEL AND ARTIFACT ADJUSTMENTS

Temple of Twilight

- Trial 3.2 - Players now have two choices for obtaining a cure in "A Cure for Kepa". Players may either kill Moughart or seek out the Triton Brigand inside the Temple of Twilight.

- Trial 3.5 - Players may now kill molded statues inside the Temple of Twilight for a chance to receive the triton shaman necklace that is needed for the quest, "Tasks for Antioos".

- The levels of the statue sentinels and molded statues have been decreased. The defensive abilities of these monsters have also been decreased.

- Two groups of statue sentinels and molded statues have been added along the right wall of the cave area leading to Laodameia's encounter room.

Artifact Adjustments

- In order to ease some of the frustrations in finding monsters of the appropriate level and difficulty, all artifacts will now use one of six leveling requirements. Artifacts will be assigned to one of the following regions: mainland outdoors, mainland dungeons, Shrouded Isles outdoors, Shrouded Isles dungeons, Trials of Atlantis outdoors, or Trials of Atlantis dungeons. In addition, all artifacts can now earn experience from player versus player kills and from killing monsters in the Frontier zones (including Darkness Falls, Passage of Conflict, and Summoner's Hall).

CAMELOT CLASSIC WORLD NOTES

Albion Quests

- Fortune of Few - Master Graent will once again accept crafted war mattocks in addition to the store bought ones.

SHROUDED ISLES WORLD NOTES

Albion Quests

- Reports - Necromancers may now use the three reports (the Woman in Black report, Undead report, and Calikana report) in shade form.
Discuss... i think the ToA changes arelovely :)

I can't say I like the idea of compulery maps. I used the Podmod maps before I switched to my current UI and I found them to get in the way more than they helped me out, doubly so when it would take longer for me to get past the loading screen (as well as the slight jumps when I actually opened them)

Aside from that the Artifact XPing sounds good (maybe STR will become a viable Artifact now? :D)

Unsure about the ML3 changes though, if I had to suffer then other people should as well damnit!! :D

This particular thing is something GoA need to hotfix straight away. Seriously, this is a tremendious change and waiting half a year for it seems unbearable - in particular when currently grinding away.

Pleeaase GoA, can you hotfix this straight away? :)

The artifact changes are nice, but probably "too little, too late" by the time we get it. Would like to see Planetside style 'beacon' marking on maps, so your group/bg can "see" where to go instead of using /locs :p

a hotfix on the arti levelling would be frickin awesome. goa have done hotfixes before, but something tells me they won't on this one.

I think the Hotfixes GOA did were actual Hotfixs on the Mythic servers, not just parts of patches they thought we should get sooner. I could be wrong though I guess, I generally don't commit every server change to memory :D

Heh, after news of this gets round I imagine there'll be a sudden drought of 40+ groups.

If GOA managed to get this onto our servers early I'd mail them love :(

shame Mythic didnt think more before they released TOA and if these changes had been in from the start...not so many players would of left the game i reckon.

Once again Mythic show their lack of thinking about expansions by changing things in later patches, because it alway takes em a few months to realise they fucked up again !

Nice changes...but for some of us too late !

do you consider camping a stupid camp of yellow cons with a slow spawn hard? the only 'hard' part about it is NOT typing /quit out of total boredom to go spend your time on quality entertainment

this seriously makes me want to get all my artifacts, for all my chars and quit the game until we get this :p

one thing though, DF will be flooding with ppl, summoner raids will be popular once again, all the camps in RvR will be camped, and stealthers will camp the campers :p

keep wars will be even more intense, since every1 will want DF to lvl all theyr artis at the same time and at the same time earn cash.

salvagers will get filthy rich and rice the market prices for stuff (ok, maybe not, but hey, it could happen :p)

GoA should hotfix it, but we have a biger chance of seeing jesus hanging from a tree while yelling " give me bananas! " than goa making this a hotfix

Firstly, Hotfixes are for bugs, exploits or for things that are not "working as intended", in our case as per patch notes. This isnt a fix, its an adjustment, and when the US get it, it will be part of the whole 1.71 patch. And as seen in 1.70, even that can change as they go along.

Obviously an impatient PL'd or ebayed char here. MMORPGs all work the same, you change something, you test it on test severs, make it live, test it again and fix if needed. You really should try playing some other MMORPGs before spouting off about Mythics patches, then come back and complain. In principle, the ToA artifact and ML system is sound, but what Mythic didnt consider is that most ppl playing these days are tight arses, and wont level thinsg with others. Group leveling artis would be great, but no one does it, everyone and their BB just sits solo doing their exping, so now Mythic have made it "Im a sad git wanna play on me own" easy.

As for the comment about ppl leaving, the DAoC player base is still expanding, despite loosing ppl like you who found it too much like hard work to play.

Mythic own and still produce the best MMORPG around, simple, sorry theres no easy win button for you.

On the thread, great news, for casual players and uberleets alike, nice move Mythic.

Why the hell should we bother levelling artis, when they´re making it ten times easier in a few weeks? Why do we actually do anything when they´re changing it anyways sooner or later, making the effort a waste of time?
Look how hard it used to be to ding 50 compared to now. People are working like 2 days for their lvl 50ies these days.
The only reason to level artis now is an advantage of some lvl 10 artis for a few weeks. That´s all you get for not being lazy, some time-advantage. And the cycles are getting smaller and smaller.
True, some artis are a pain to level. But that´s the idea isn´t it? What´s the point of everybody is running around in lvl 10 stuff after a couple hours of levelling? They might as well skip the entire idea of levelling artis at all because it doesn´t make any difference as soon as those changes are in effect. The entire realm will run around with lvl 10 GOV´s and lvl 10 battlers.

now they should fix the repop rate on certain artifacts (Som, Gov etc) make them 100% drop (cloudsong for god sakes) and alot higher scroll drop rate, no fun chaining high purple mobs for hours cuz they dont want to drop an idiot scroll : )

they are very small maps that have been changed to DDS files ( ask 1 of the techies) there is no differance in load times or any change in framerate when you /map very handy will save me ear ache from mrs asking which way now
