Tonight we had a ~40man raid on the Avalon City ice drag in Alb SI, lead by bubble: https://forums.freddyshouse.com/showthread.php?t=16736

Zone crashed, zone came back up, all mobs were depopped.

Tried to contact a GOA representative (not a server GM) - was 3 hours afk
Tried to find a server GM - none about
Tried to find Eyes & Ears on server - none about

A zone crash with 40 people is somewhat boggling in the first place, but this resulted in us having to call off raid as no server staff are about to repop the boss mob.

1. Current Eyes and Ears need be looked at, the list for Albion/Prydwen is shocking, full of back-bench people who are never about. As these are the only people with a direct line to GOA (to my knowledge) the list is nothing above a mockery.

2. Provide players with a fast-response line of communication for RAID PROBLEMS ONLY - we need a way of contacting GOA server staff to repop mobs. We need to be able to contact server staff via IRC or MSN either directly or indirectly via an ACTIVE E&E team.

The volunteers do not act as substitutes for the technical support. They are not here to answer technical questions, so do not ask them.

There is NO technical support for repopping mobs - The mob will respawn before RightNow even gets the message - For the 2.5years I have been playing DAoC on Prydwen the ONLY WAY of contacting GOA for repopping mobs is through the E&E team - this isnt a dig at the E&E team, but a dig at the ballsed up support system we have.

/sign if you agree, hopefully we can get GOA to conceed to providing faster response server staff for raid problems.

So Alb has ~4 E&E who have revealed their status publically. At the time of writing, none are online. The whole E&E system needs reworking.

I know for a start I never will run ML7 again unless I know we have a GM on call, because I'm tired of having to waste an evening for 40+ people when one mob turns out to be bugged and the raid can't continue until it is reset, which has to happen on a different day. I also think everyone should have equal access to GMs, not just those on raids which are fortunate to have one of the E&Es on them.

Progressing through the ML's if I recall correctly Kemor was present and had to take action during

ML4
ML7
ML8
ML9

Ohh and we had a zone crash on ML3 and ML4 which could have reset some timers on mob spawns.

Ingame support is no longer something that can be swept under the rug, support must be provided at least during the peak play times.

Signed. Though I think that the whole E&E system is just flawed. I mean, people pay to play, not to be Eyes and Ears for those who don't do their jobs (in time, anyway). I wouldn't want to be E&E because I don't have the time and money to be relied on like that. And to be honest, I think that the same goes for the current E&E team.

Now that there are so many people-intensive, time-consuming raids that need preparation and effort to run and often require GM intervention if not to be a total failure, the very least GoA could do is ensure that our time is not wasted when we merely attempt to play the game the way it was designed for us to do.

AFAIK if you contact an E&E ingame, the best they can do is post a message on the E&E forums and hope someone from GOA is reading it... What else can alb E&E's do apart from sell their accounts to piss me off :p

A 'hidden' E&E is pretty crocked imo, if you want to do something for the 'community' you should let them know who you are.


GOA don't want to waste money on employing CSRs(they've gotten away with it for 2yrs, why start now?). So they should give E&E special accounts, allowing them to reset encounters and such. Is it open to abuse? Probably, but depends on the E&E. It would be alot easier if you could have encounters reset quickly, without hearing 'Working as Intended(aka, "cba")" from GOA reps.

problems: something like this should only be used to reset 'bugged' encounters... and not to spawn SoM every 30mins, or resetting Battler because he's too high level for your leet 4man group etc. But a sycophantic E&E would be open to abuse. That would bring problems with one realm gaining more artifacts than another with a stricter E&E. But even with those possibilities, it would work better than the current system.
