Is it any good? V2.8 or3? What do you guys use?

I'm hacked off with WMP and want a decent system.

....especially since I've got my Klipsch 5.1's on order

i just changed back to coz 3 takes about a day to startup compared to 2.8

winamp 2.81 with directsound crossfader plugin.

find it has a few considerable advantages over winamp 2, mainly nicer skin and the way for adding new songs individually to the playlist.

Dont expect it to sort out the playlist properly compared to winamp 2 should you click "sort by directory"

Not bothered with 3 on a "if it aint broke don't fix it" sorta reasoning.

Winamp 3 has thousands of bugs and winamp 2 actually has more features.
Winamp 3 has a better sound reproduction, but is so bugged its pointless.

I tried the last 2 versions of 3 but gave up and reinstalled 2.
I'll certainly try it again in future versions, but 2 is far better right now.

Winamp2 has been good as its got loads of features, loads within 1 second and remains to be stable.

Winamp3 is the total opposite.

Why does every company who make a decent app go and ruin it by sticking in advanced uneeded features into new versions?

ICQ used to be good till they did p2p, sms etc etc. Its a chat program ffs!

MSN is the same, was simply chat based, then moved into some fucking program that is purly advertising now.

Thank god mIRC still knows its about chatting and not popuping up the latest news every time u start it.

I sue some 5 year old version of winamp or something, its on my home pc, its old , and its good, very quick load times and dosnt crash etc.. but dosnt play cds (minor niggle).

I really haven't had any of the probs associated with WA3.

I'll whack on 2.x and see if there is any difference.
