as the lvl 1 was even way too easy in a frigate, don't think I ever got my shields below 90% in a lvl 1 mission, stupid easy

yeah the lvl 1 missions are pretty silly. and the lvl 2's isnt that much harder eiher exept a few storys.

the lvl 3 missions are in comparison to the jump in dificulties from lvl 1 to lvl 2 missions near impossible if u dont expect it tho :)

get used to wearing faction specific resistances as soon as possible. if you dont you will get seriously ass raped on the first lvl 3 mission u get ;)

forget long range combat when u get to lvl 3 :) when i tried those missions all i fought were interceptors that orbitted me from 5k. making my 90 Km optimal battlecruiser pretty worthless lol. and i couldn't warp out in time either >.<

expensive mistake i never plan to make again lol

I'm giving the game a go as well. I like the idea that skills can get trained when I'm not online (which is quite often :p).

Indeed as Heta said there's not that much of a feeling of an mmorpg but then again it's just the beginning, i suspect that after joining a corp things will get better.

And public channels suck big-time indeed.

I've played the Eve Trial many many times, and never subscribed. I always find that Eve-Radio helps with the immersive experience, for me, and if they do a competition that's not a lottery you can rack up a few million ISKs quickly. EVE Radio - Home

As for me.

I am Mobius Dukat, of Goonswarm ;)

[edit] There is a new engine due to be released int he next week or so with even shiner graphics, hopefully will fix alot of problems aswell :) Happy days.

I guess you are one of the, what was it the goonswarm members called it. "stupid piece of eurotrash" in GS?

When it comes to Goons they are no better than the so called "BOB the enemy", their attitude fucking disgust me.

That Linux client is native? Any experiences?

Well it seems stable on Ubuntu , but not tried premium graphics. I usually play on windows but I did it just to try it out

Actually i'm not in Goonfleet so i dont get that :)

Also the image people outside GS have of GS is incredibly scewed by the BoB bad press right back at the start.

Can safly say i've never had a yank say anythign bad about where i live...although when i was explaining what when Brits go out for meals we generally only have 1 plate of food..they called me a skinny runt :p

there are alot of goons out there who will scam "pubbies" this are carebears or people who fail to understand some basic concepts about the game that everyone is out there to get you, your corp and either A- blow you up B- take your money.

Regardless, aside from my FC [fleet commander] regularaly telling people to stfu in a drunken US accent, i've not had any bad experiences within GS :)

Or as the image says about ym FC

Nah man it's just the scamming people that they "recruit" that disgust me, that highly profiled alliance can just do that and exploit gullible people and make it a laugh so they can jerk off afterwards.

I don't care that it's allowed though, but I just don't see the point in fucking with people like that

The CAOD smack is just expected though, all of the alliances do that.

Ok a couple of things, GS members aren't allowed to scam other GS members.

has this happened to you or is this hearsay?

One thing I dont understand is why raw materials are more expensive than most manufactured items?

but that begs the question - who's manufacturing stuff for less than the value of the materials required?

its not that simple - when I was running level 4's I could melt down stuff and get a ton of minerals 'for free' and secondly if you mine all your basic mins you can probably charge a lot less. Its all to do with how you run your supply chain in your corp.

as sharkith said. probably because they didnt mine it all.

and therers alot more competition on manufactured items then it is on the ore u mine. so ppl tend to follow the market better selling items then the ore.

because ore will ALWAYS sell. overpriced items on the other hand usually dont unless its in 0.0 and ur KOS in empire and desperate.

That still makes no sense unless they are stupid - the minerals arent 'free' - theres an opportunity cost of the price they could have gotten for the minerals themselves - thats why I'm saying people are selling stuff at a loss - oh well I'll just buy em n refine em :p

Don't forget that it might be more feasible to build something from minerals and components and sell for a slight loss than doing lots of freighter runs (for big bulks).

At my home in 0.0 I got alot of minerals and building a Nidhoggur carrier (a spare ). This is much easier than moving a freighter through 0.0 and selling them in empire (risk and time consuming)

So you know, for people like Sharkith doing missions, refining stuff and making stuff out of the minerals and selling for a loss is feasible since his alliance might have wardecs out and the risk of running to empire with a hauler, lots of minerals etc won't be profitable. He could rather spend that time doing more missions and just building a battleship for himself or selling it.

yeah thats it Lordjox - we don't want haulers up on our killboard - would make us look like a very strange Merc corp.

:D

Seriously though your absolutely right - if the minerals come from melted down items then it really is for free. Just an added bonus - typically I use the minerals to make and sell ammo.

Hehe, now that's funny. However you can't put a lid on that they have made alot of action almost in every 0.0 region...

Shamis Orzoz got it right by the way:

"No need to slam. Just tell me what I said wrong. Have bob fought outnumbered? Of course...but whenever they felt remotely threatened they made sure they had a megablob to back them up. EC is the prime example. They brought ASCN along because they wanted to make sure there was no chance of failure, and they didn't mind working with ASCN because they knew they were no threat. Then later, when they no longer needed ASCN, they killed them. I've seen the same scenario played out several times in bob history.

BOB has always stomped on the weak, and played superior political and meta games on the strong in order to avoid conflicts that did not favor them. This certainly does require skill, and has been impressive to watch, but it does not imply in any way that bob can handle taking on a much larger force in a straight up fight.

One of the things that has kept bob going so long is their ability to manipulate the general opinions of the eve population into thinking it would be uncool to band together and kill them. They've also used spy networks within enemy alliances to help create dissension in any coalitions that form, as they did recently with SMASH spies. They depend on a lack of cohesion within the coalition for survival, but the coalition is much less disorganized than they think. We have had many failures over the last year, and the leaders are now determined and united (with few exceptions) to put differences aside, and kill bob. I have no doubt that many of us will turn on each other when its over, but then we can get back to fun PvP, the kind of PvP that existed before bob invented the mega-blob, and the GBC, and the before the Coalition that has formed to fight it.
"

Witnessed it from the beginning.

I hope BOB gets destroyed - its extremely un-healthy for the game to have a powerfull corp with such close ties to the games developers.

In think there's more devs in Goonswarm than BoB these days, according to official sources.

Personally, I'm not too impressed with BoBs war strategy. While it's certainly interesting to see a "world war" in a game content, eve is simply far too polarized to be much fun. The lag fests in 49- made me retire from the war. Just not fun waiting minutes for module activation, or not knowing if you're dead or not.

Apart from Triumvitae and BRUCE, practically all the big 0.0 entities are either pro bob (GBC) or against bob (coalition)

This doesn't leave a lot of political manourverability, since your scope of targets is somewhat limited if you're in the coalition these days. There's very little fighting between neighbours as everyone is blue. As soon as the war ends, we'll hopefully end up with more smaller powerblocks, less pos warfare, and more pew pew all round.

It's all conjecture :ninja:

Having positive standings to one side - albeit completely removed from the greater conflict at large - it all reminds me of some kind of bad* soap opera; painful yet enjoyable.

Esz.

*like Neighbours or Heartbreak High NOT Plebbenders or Coronation Street - they're infinitely shitter than just being bad.
