Then it's not the same version. What i have is undoubtably the smashing pumpkins. Theres no confusing Billy Corgan's voice.

The Edge's voice is very similar to Billy's. And it was him doing the solo version on the Popmart video.

Ok you seem unmovable on this.

I have seen, with my own eyes, smashing pumpkins perform this song.

I'm sure they did. But the version I have is the one U2 did at Popmart with The Edge on vocals. And its named as Smashing Pumpkins. So what's your point?

Sar - FNM were gods. Tragic loss to music when they split up :/

100% agree with that.

I remember the day they split up and I heard about it.

I was fucking devastated.

Oddly enough I've been watching Ozzy live in Budokan over the weekend on DVD, and who should be playing Drums for Mr Osbourne?

Only Mike Bordin no less.

I was a bit chuffed :D

Easy was their biggest hit. It was recorded to get their guitarist to leave. Which is one of the reasons FNM are one of the greatest bands of all time.

All of MP's stuff is top, Mr Bungle albums are fantastically varied. The Fantomas project is amazing, and he was top on Lovage with Dan and Keith.

The first two Mr. Bungle albums were great (self titled, disco volante) but the third didn't wash with me, it felt different.
Fantomas' first album (again, self titled. No imagination) was an exercise in greatness, and while I think the second album was a ambitious set of songs, there was fuckall in the way of flow.

We are all agreed Tomahawk are pretty substandard, though?

Which reason?

1. Easy?

2. James martin?

3. James martin leaving?

4. Easy being released to get James martin to leave?

Answers on a postcard.

Wiretap scars is horridly lacking the energy Austere presented. It also sounds muddier than Austere did, and they didn't include Vacant Skies - an atrocity, given they did include a hugely different [and better, albeit] Echodyne (Harmonic).

I'd like to see what Mars Volta bring to the fray, their bizarre psychedelic intensity is quite nice, and the stressed vocals of BigHair are great.

hmm, I'm guessing based on that I shouldn't bother buying Wiretap? heh

Wish I was, was gonna take a girl (Weezer fan - they're supporting) with me but sadly nothing came of it.. Admittedly though - no Slash, no Izzy, no Duff, no Steven Adler, no Matt Sorum, no Gilby Clarke... how many line-up changes can one band take?!

From drownedinsound.com:

Since the band's formation, Axl Rose has managed to work his way through four drummers, two bassists, ten guitarists, as well as several female backing vocalists, a horn section, several keyboardists, and a multitude of producers including Moby. The band have also been experimenting with basketball star Shaquille O'Neal who has apparently rapped some vocal tracks for the new material. In the meantime, long awaited album "Chinese Democracy" has been delayed several times, and has taken a total of eleven years and at least $10 million to make this far. Guns'N'Roses have performed live four times in the past nine years.

BTW, for Slash/Izzy/Duff fans - Izzy's new solo album has both the other two on it :D

I saw GnR on Friday in Leeds. They were fucking awesome. Finck and Buckethead are both incredible guitarists - ok, so they dont personify 'rock' quite like Slash, but hey life goes on. Stinson was bloody good on bass. Fortus - well, all he has to do is replace Duff, not hard is it :) Personally I thought it worked really well with 4 guitars. Brian Mantia was also very good on the drums.

Loads of shit has been flying around about GnR for years (eg this bollocks about Shaq - actually, he happened to be at the same studio one day and Axl let him cut a vocal over a track after he begged). And yeah it's a shame that Slash, Gilby, and Matt are gone. But as soon as those first few chords of Welcome to the Jungle kicked in, it didn't really matter - the place went ballistic. Out of the 60k or so people there on Monday, I reckon 30% were there purely to see GnR - I was fairly close to the stage (about 15 feet away), and looking behind me I couldn't see a single patch of grass anywhere.

Oh, and the new stuff rocks.
