Decided to upgrade the kids pcs for xmas (I was going to do it months ago but circumstances pushed it back), bought them the exact same hardware

went to build the first pc

NVME_1 wasn't registering, NVME_2 was... figured oh, alright, i'll boot into windows, go to Disk Management and see whats what

get into windows, doesn't show up... thought, rlgith, its an old-ish motherboard, i'll update the bios

bricks out on the bios update, not didn't even begin to copy the bios to the system and blackscreened

took the CMOS out, purged the remaining power... didn't turn on afterwards, completely dead

awesome xmas present.

building the second tomorrow, hoping his hasn't got the DOA curse like the first... ordered a new board to replace the other like /rant off

Some mobos inactivate certain slots if other slots are in use / enabled. Long shot, but look at your sata options, may be that because you have certain sata / pcie enabled, the mobo inactivates nvme slot.
