Toyota Yaris.....

..you are fucked if you are behind one of these. They are sure to be doing 10mph below the speed limit, and god forbid they have to go around a corner for fear of it tipping over. Also the Mercedes things, you know, the little bastards that look like a Yaris, it seems to me that people who are buying the Mercs are just getting 'em because it means they can say they have a Merc, you are equally as fucked if you get caught up behind one of those.

Now a few years back being behind a Nissan Micra made my stomach turn but these seem to have died out(or the owners all died cuz they went the speed limit) recently.

I have done research on this and absolutely definately being behind a Yaris is never EVER fun.

BASTARDS:eek:

I did my driving lessons many years ago in a Micra, and what an awful car, the first gear is stupidly low, you can open the door, kick yourself off rolling and go straight into 2nd, its an absolutely pointless gear.

I agree with you about the A Class, I wanted to get one myself, simply because I want a small car and I wanted a star on the front, but after a test drive you realise its not as big inside as it looks and the luggage space is no bigger than my current car (Corsa).

i used to drive a nissan micra '84. Wasn't so bad, really loud and noisy. Was only a 1000cc and had 4 gears. then i shot the gearbox and had a 5 speed put in. The 5th gear wasn't any use, i would go into 5th and the car would start slowing down

Many years ago now, we used to do 'autotests' with my college motor club. We'd get hold of an empty car park somewhere on a Sunday, lay out traffic cones in a variety of courses designed to put a car through it's paces... parking boxes, slaloms, hand brake turns, reverse flicks... you get the picture I hope.

4 of us clubbed together 1 year and hired a micra for it. The competition was pretty tough, with a variety of modded cars taking part, and yet the micra claimed 1st and 2nd place. It's not so bad under 60 mph, just don't try it on the motorway :)

Oh, and we had to park it in a very dark sopt when we returned it. 5 bald tyres is not exactly normal usage in 1 day :D

On the subject of small cars, and for the lack of a Cars sub-forum, does anyone have any experience with the Audi A2 or A3 (5-door) ? This thread just got me thinking about a new car perhaps next year.

I've driven an A3, and it's quite nice. Because I'm me, I must add that I had more fun in a heavily kitted out ibiza.

Not sure TRem is referring to the A2 - sounds more like the SMart car he is referring to

You could cycle faster though.;)

I do see them parked nose to kerb in tiny spaces. It does look very funny.

it has a 600cc engine iirc, but that means nothing to me other than it's small. I seem to remember that the lads at Lotus once tuned ~150bhp out of a 1.2 liter engine on a dare of some sort :)

even if you could tune it to have like 200 bhp it is still a smart car. thats the bottom line they are shite :p

oh ,I dunno. I hear of tales that discribe them as a perfect city-car (and that, at being a city-car they own). I don't have a car atm, but if I needed one I'd prolly go for a 2-door tdi in the form of an ibiza/golf/A3-esque type thing.

I was just behind one of the Mercs it was an A160.

I think you are all misunderstanding my point, the point I was trying to make is that the standard of driving of the people who purchase these cars is quite easily the worst on the roads. I mean the Yaris does quite a cool sporty version, that revs like a bastard, I like Toyotas engineering, but they seem to attract twats who can't drive.

I've had an A2 a few times as a courtesy car, they're very nice, but I don't drive small cars often so I can't offer a comparison. The view out of the rear-view mirror isn't brilliant though.

The diesel is pretty punchy.
