If we're going to use anti freedom-of-speech laws to lock people who think like this up, we'll have to lock up a very large slice of the country.

So you're saying like imagine some guy was having a chat with his mates about going to stab 3 girls at a Taylor Swift dance class and the police knew about it.

Where would you want intervention? When the knife goes into the first kid or?

Maybe a grownup read him that John Grisham novel or he was allowed to watch the film?? cannot remember the title.

He's going to get Hulk Hogan to lead them in. And Steven Segal, fatly walking around corners.

It isn't "like" a Nazi salute, it is a Nazi salute.

Silly question, poorly thought through.

Edit: To humour you and throw a very gentle and obvious couple of spanner in the works, two things:
1) What people say and what people do are normally very different things
2) If you make it illegal to say things, people hide their opinions. You want those people not to do that.

Amazing to see.

Gawd, I hate Starmer:

As someone who's about to buy a lot of kitchenware this would be really fucking annoying. Apart from the fact that it's going to make everything more expensive (companies that sell knives will now have to store the information and produce it for governments, and build the expensive systems to do that) - we all know that if kids can't get hold of knives online, they'll reach into their mum's kitchen drawers instead.

People who think like this need to be stabbed in the face.

He's just trying to cover his own arse, to make it look like he's actually doing something. Harsher punishments would have a bigger impact than tougher knife checks. They need to change some of our draconian laws so people under the age of 18 can be trialed as adults if they commit such crimes.... they also need a mandatory 20+ year sentence for severe knife crimes without the possibility of parole.

Will it stop knife crime? no, will it make them think a bit more before doing it? yes.

The only sentence that you typed that is correct is the first one - he's covering his own arse at the cost of inconvenience to the law-abiding majority.
The rest?

  • Harsher punishments are proven to make no difference
  • People under the age of 18 aren't adults. The human brain doesn't stop growing until the mid 20's. What is needed is a change from our retard-first culture, not trying children as adults
  • Mandatory 20+ year sentences, handed out to kids, would lock-in seriously expensive prison time.

How about Starmer gets serious about something. Instead of pulling retard-stunts, let him start bolstering free speech laws (instead of labour being on the path of re-instating blasphemy laws). What's needed is an ability to call out Islam for what it is - an inherently dangerous religious ideology.

All Islam is just on a spectrum of idiocy. Some of them tip into violence.

We defeated the majority of the worst excesses of christianity by challenging it. Labour has made people less likely to do that with it's fucking stupid hate speech laws.

After seeing what Trump is doing to America now essentially bulldozing all the woke nonsense and censorship, I'm somewhat hopeful some of our government grow a spine and follow his lead.

Don't bet on it.

I don't like Trump. He's a selfish cunt who's doing things for his own (and oil-baron) enrichment. There's even a faint whiff of white supremacist about the team (I don't buy into the nazi salute shit but YMMV).

However, DEI is inherently racist and discriminatory. We all know this. We've sacrificed a principle to solve a problem we know exists - that BAME and women are underrepresented in our workforce and as humans we hire people "like us" - so whilst white guys hold the strings they'll hire white guys. But I've worked in places where women hold the strings and they hire women.

This is normal human stuff but DEI is an inherently unjust way of fixing the issue. I'm not saying that I have a better solution, but if we believe in the principle of equality then the solution should never be to ditch that principle in a "short term" fix - because A) the fix becomes permanent and, more importantly, B) the principle is shown to be optional - and therefore nobody will hold to it.

As far as I'm concerned today, all DEI has done is made hiring a more open, but more discriminatory bunfight with no principles behind it - and we've ditched any "best person for the job" meritocracy pretence.

In the UK this has been ongoing since the 80's really - it used to be called political correctness and in the early days it was easy to get behind. But as it's gone on, what's happened is that an "approved narrative" or "approved view of the world" has become adopted and dissenting voices are seen as heretics - and we're legislating to stop those dissenting voices.

Approved narratives are inherently dangerous and can ultimately lead to this sort of thing.

If you're not free to voice whatever cunt opinion you have, then you're a slave.

"BTW I increases prescription prices by 4200%"

"How do we make things cheaper for people?" - BY NOT DOING THAT.

I didn't know, but it doesn't matter. I associate massive fake eyebrows with being a thick. (And a victim of moronic fashion norms).

Dating would have been much easier for me nowadays. I could have discounted 50% of the room*.

*yes, I know, dating doesn't happen in actual rooms any more. I am old :(

I was thinking of buying the Indiana Jones game today and looked on the Steam forums, only to find a lot of bitching about it apparently being woke.

I only want it so I can punch Nazis legally.

Everything is woke. It's a parody now.

Wolfenstein is pretty good for upsetting Nazis.

On top of being able to create literal piles of Nazis everywhere, the game is fantastic.
