What the fuck do you think being cancelled is?

It's certainly not being unbooked for a single venue, then complaining nobody else would host him with zero notice, in Edinburgh's busiest season in the entire year.

He was a nobody (as in fan base) before, got some publicity, then went back to being a nobody again. That isn't being cancelled, its being shit at pulling in punters.

Live comedy venues rely on regular custom, like any venue, you don't do that with rushing to book *very* specialist performers.

Edit, like I said, he can still perform, nobody is stopping (cancelling) him. Nobody gave a shit on social media (that shit a minority of vocal people get bent out of shape over)

He had two shows booked and sold out. He did his first show. They then cancelled his second because: "words".

What the fuck is cancelled if not that?

Jerry Sadowicz has had a cult following for decades. I always found him a bit much but he has definitely had a following for a very long time, as witnessed by the fact he already had sold out shows.

What's happened is pretty much a textbook cancel culture success.

Cult followings don't fill venues, not in the long term, not when people are very careful about what they spend on nights out.

Dodge the question. We're not talking about his mass-market appeal - he has none. We're talking about a fully booked-out show being cancelled.

So again: What the fuck is cancel culture if not that?

Like I said, cancel culture is just the bleat of "snowflakes" If I ran a venue, and had a smallish, but loyal group of patrons (nobody gives a fuck about Edinburgh on the comedy scene, except for the fringe, it's miles from any regular customers) and put on someone offensive and unfunny, that my regulars thought was shit then I would fuck them off too. I will admit, cancelling an already booked show seems silly, however, it is not "cancel culture" an entirely manufactured 'thing' by idiots on social media.

Edit, to put across a ridiculous analogy. You run a pub, with a small but loyal customer base, you book cradle of filth, nobody likes it, at all. Would you have them round for another night?

Why on earth book him in first place if they cant stomach the contents of his show, absurd behaviour from venue

Shit venue, booking unheard of acts. It's the fringe (Glastonbury for comedy), book everyone.

They booked him - two sellout nights. They've been booking him for years. And they took a few complaints and cancelled the second sell-out night.

Can't help it if Raven's being a dick and rejecting reality.

No idea where that came from, but I really need a new Xcom. 500+ hours in Xcom2.

My Dad decided to play Rugby when he shouldn't be, he got stamped on during a match, I won't show you the post-injury picture because it's pretty disgusting, but this is 2 weeks afterwards, with skin graft.

It was a charity match, where people were a bit salty and thought it would be cool to stamp on people with studs on.

I always hated rugby. People say football is a game for gentlemen played by thugs and rugby is a game for thugs played by gentlemen.

That's bullshit though - rugby is a game played by thugs. They just tend to be better-off thugs than footballers.

Yeah, up to this point I've heard all the stories of how Rugby players are respectful etc, but when this happened I heard stories of teams celebrating after the game because one of their team mates broke another player's leg back in t' day.

The RFU are investigating potential GBH charges, but probs just so they keep up that image.

I think the respectful bit often talked about is in terms of players to refs in the professional game.

As with anything, regulations are only as good as their enforcement. 20% of all profits for every proven case would do it. Do it twice, 20% more and so on. Do it until they have nothing left, then take the land off them.

So much for farmers being guardians of nature. Not investing in slurry storage because they didn't think they'd be inspected. Sounds to me like they don't give a shit.

Regulations require hard enforcement. The Tories have gutted the EA.

Yes, we can blame farmers but it's mostly a question of priorities for them. And we need environmental compliance to be number 1.

This is absolutely not limited to farmers. It's everythimg, by everyone, all the time.

Humans don't give a shit.
