Noticed that a LOT of sites are not respoding or are extremely slow...

There appears to be a Microsoft SQL Monitor worm spreading. Massive UDP traffic on port 1434 is affecting major internet backbones, including UUNET. Of course, servers and home users are being flooded as well. Many websites are currently inaccessible or slow, depending on your location and ISP.

Don't look too good:

seems the worm managed to screw up some of the root dns servers with lookups as it spread from ms-sql server to server

Evidently some kind of worm going around, virus etc...blocking traffic or crashing servers. Supposed to be safe from homeusers.

Was on the news.

What?

A bug in a Microsoft product is able to slow down the entire internet?
What a surprise :p
