Just been watching the Comic Con video on this and they say every class has a completely different set of missions and that you will not see one duplicate mission if you decide to play something else. THAT in itself sounds great.

Not class... faction!
Every class has its own set of quests (and the rest are mutual for the faction)
What they were saying is if you completed every quest as Empire and you reroll as Republic you won't encounter a single duplicate quest

nah instead of killing 10 mobs for spoons you have to kill 10 mobs for forks instead?

Well, can't really blame people for what they want to spend their own cash on. It's atleast nice that there is an option for it

Well ofcourse, but if the CE´s are really worth the price today can be debated, just the huge ammounts of each CE that is released now days lowers their value in the future.

That's up to the buyer to decide in my opinion, think most people know that its quite cheap stuff but enjoy collecting plastic statues or are very interested in star wars lore

Whether you get value for money is simply the perspective of each individual

Look at the exchange rate, we more that paid for it.

33 quid or so I paid for it. No more then I would pay for any other MMO at release. But that because I opted to go to amazon who were the cheapest and i couldnt be bothered with any the special editions incase I dont stick with it. waste of money can ill afford.

Just hope it dont come out end of september as Im going away for my 1st anniversary :p

Preordered the other day from shopto looking forward to this tbh looks like they have taken the time they needed from delaying a spring launch.

imo a good thing, people these days won't take a broken mmo anymore your product doesn't work at launch? your game fails.

I'm on two minds about a beta invite on one hand i'd love an invite but on the other i've played so many damn betas that when it comes to launch day there's no excitement as you have done it all months before release lol.

Don't think they will invite any more people to the beta.
There will be large stress test weekends during september and october and they said you will have a good chance of being invited for those if you signed up for beta a long time ago and haven't been invited to beta.
Don't know if it's the same for pre-order accounts though...

For pre-order head start = 7 days for CE and 3 days for normal afaik

What did you say? :p

This... :)

I have a question..

In this post: SWTOR: E3 Meet and Greet | VTG Network

You draw parallels between good pvp and WAR, more specifically the pvp lakes.

Are you TROLLING us?

Seriously, if you want to know what good pvp is (or at least get a clue about how good it used to be) go play DAoC.

And what's even more shocking is that someone on BioWare actually LISTENED to the old Mythic pvp devs and IMPLEMENTED this....

WAR's other issues aside, the pvp lakes evidently did NOT work.

And apparently they didn't like that... :(

i quite enjoyed the low level PvP lakes in WAR, but the high level ones were absurd (lag crash zerg hide in keeps etc)

maybe a better solution would be to have a combo? to give people a taste of everything at low levels, but then have PvP zones and PvE zones seperate ala DAoC

i have no idea how that would work though :p

The lag is the biggest issue with having rvr "lakes".

When the game released it was lag hell from T1 to T4 in EVERY zone, even if you were in a different zone in the same tier...

I died to mobs i couldn't even see, let alone target.

And then there is the size issues, to small and people can't roam. To big and that in itself will help cause lag.

So you can not make a zone big enough to be suitable for both pvp and pve without making one or the other suffer.

Now area wise the t4 lakes in WAR weren't THAT small, they were just way to narrow and to many of them had bottlenecks you had to pass through unless you wanted to spend 10 minutes going through the pve areas or even longer trying to go another way (Dragonwake anyone?).

Now obviously it's hard to make a proper assessment on how rvr lakes will work done properly, because Mythic obviously botched it up in every single way imaginative with bad coding and all that stuff, and they are the only ones that have tried it as far as i know.

Hopefully SW:TOR have not adopted the same capture system WAR have so people can go to other lakes and still feel like they are doing something constructive, instead of being forced to go to one or 2 zones because the rest were locked...

So without that, who knows...

I remember WAR launch to be quite smooth to be fair, although I did only get like level 20ish. I did however buy CE, which was kinda waste :p

Besides, PvP isn't the main selling point for me anymore. PvE can be just as fun!

The lag issues in Warhammer where more a result of the game engine couldn't handle the game, than the lakes themselves.
The game really struggled with spell and characters if there more than a handful together at the time.
Therefore the fortress fights crashed with a vengeance and they - well to fix it they first tried to limit them and then later removed them.

The game engine itself was the prime reason why Warhammer suffered the fate it did IMO. Had people actually been able to play the game as intended (large scale warfare) - I'm sure more would have stuck with the game through the bugfix/content expansion phase. But because the game crashed left and right people didn't feel the desire to "stick it out".

Aye the engine was poor and simply not good enough for the game the lakes themselves were fine the engine was flawed for this type of game.

The lakes weren't fine, overall layout sucked, the mechanism that forced you into just 3 zones sucked.
As terrain for mass rvr they were at best medicore, for any other sort of pvp they sucked.

i found the fact that the pvp zones were full of pve is what ruined it i mean the fortress stuff with the silly amounts of npcs to get to various stages was just fucking stupid imo i want to pvp not kill x amount of npc's to advance to stage 2 and do the same again etc

i personally have bought the CE edition as i am a huge star wars fan one of the big selling points of the CE was the gnost dural journal and also the digital items i mean you get a mouse droid!!! come on that alone is worth it :D

I think Warhammer's RvR lakes are/were very enjoyable (I played mid-2010 to early 2011) - when they raised the RR cap to 100 I just gave up. The power gap is/was crazy nonsense. I hope that one day someone allocates some resources to that game, because it's still got a tonne (metric) of potential.

Yeah it does, but no company is gonna be willing to pour in enough cash into that game to make that potential shine through.

Because to few MMO gamers are willing to give a failed game a second chance in fear of getting burned again.

And after this long time they have guaranteed found another game that they will be reluctant to leave.
