Strange Fixtures

Uhm, sorry, but I didn't quite get the logic behind the "semi-finals" fixtures.

Can anybody explain to me, why Clans, that finished 2nd in their Group now have to play for places 13-16? 2nd in a group with 4 groups existing makes it for places 1-8 for me...that's also what it said in the quarterfinal-fixtures. Now, Clans, that finished behind those 2nd place clans are playing for places 5-12? Why do we just lottery out all places in group play, since it doesn't matter afterwards anyways?

Is there some kind of twisted logic that I'm missing?
