Steam new directory

Hmm, i cant remember this, but is it right if i wanted to put the Steam folder onto a new partition, all id need to do was copy/paste it over?

I need to free up space on the main drive, so got a new partition set for just games

Do i need anything else? Will it update again? :s

you'd be better off reinstalling, then copying all of the gcf files from SteamApps to the new install to save downloading it all again
