Its a bit deeper than that. She absolutely swamped Germany with immigrants, far too many far too soon. This caused all sorts of social issues that many people got fed up with. I know she is pretty much the second coming to most Europhiles but she has plenty of faults, like any corporate shill. It's had the desired affect (it seems) as she has already panicked and suggested she will listen to them.

UKIP wasn't a protest vote, as such, it was a give us what we want vote, we got the choice and UKIP became obsolete. Labour were a protest vote and probably still will be a protest vote, nobody in their right mind would want them in power but its nice to kick the Tories in the balls.

Maybe, but they are getting a large number of seats with real influence on German policy, plus they are no UKIP, they brazenly call for the removal of all foreigners and quite a lot of the comments over the campaign have been borderline Hitler stuff.

Considering Germans past and it's collective desire to never, ever repeat those the horrors, the rise of the' Nazis' to this level, they are the second party in former communist areas, shows an epic level of disregard for the cohesion of society in Germany, were 1 million migrants worth this, who knows, but every day I feel there is more to the entire thing than just needing extra cheap labour.


This is one of their posters, how do you think muslims feel living in Germany now?

I guess that refugees of all religions are pragmatic and are a) happy they and their families are no longer at major risk of death and starvation in war torn areas of the planet, b) understand that a minority of people are resentful of their presence but c) are ultimately happy that the Germans have resoundingly backed Merkel who was unapologetic in her reasons for letting in a million migrants - and probably feel happy that their children are going to grow up safe and secure in a country of largely well-educated kind non-racist people.

You're looking more right by the moment dys - looks to be a joke of a party like UKIP. AfD are already beginning to fall apart with one of their best known politicians refusing to join her own party's parliamentary group.

The best comparison would be AfD and the BNP, do the BNP even exist any more? Didn't they get seen off years ago? The AfD are openly racist nationalists, they got 14% of the German , 14% of Germans are not just racist but racist enough to want all foreigners booted out, full stop and have made it their top political priority.

68% of Germans who voted didnt vote for Merkel.
Its nothing like the UK system and to call the AFD ad nothing like the Nazis is a stretch, when the results came in one of the officialls shouted say nothing that may come back on us and someone shouted Germany for the volk and volk only.
It might blow over, but so far this wonderful, liberal peace producing EU has produced the first Nazis in the Stag since the 60s, alienated Poland and Hungary, destroyed Greece, lost the UK, caused Eastern states to put up thousands of miles of barbed fencing, indirectly drowned 10,000s of migrants in the Med, caused the French to almost vote in anti EU Fascists in France.
Risen the right all over Europe, reanimated dead ultraright wing parties, pissed Russia off and now has pretty well started a war of civilisation across the bloc.
