Pub near us used to do fish finger butties, liver and onion and some other fairly basic fayre which we'd choose on a Wednesday night after our regular ride out. Cheap n cheerful.

All that's off the menu now. Replaced by more expensive stuff that I just don't want :(

Fav Chinese:

Starter - Peking Duck with the Hoi Sin Sauce, wrap and cucumber
Main - usually share between me and Mrs - Chili Fried Beef and Lemon Chicken served on Veg Haka or Veg Singapore noodles

Damn, made me hungry thinking about that.

Before I get shit over the Subs, the notification came this morning and immediately paid 12 months with paypal.

Needing a new battery for the car as the old one is about to give up, and discovering you can't go to Halfords for one - it's a BMW job.

From what I can gather it is due to some sort of planet saving nonsense. In a 3 litre petrol.....

It's a money grabbing bastards thing...They specify odd sized batteries for their cars so that you can only buy from them. They then get to charge twice the price! Had the same thing years ago on a VW Golf. The price for the battery was 900 AED at the time that was 150 GBP!!! Now is more 200 GBP. Learnt my lesson, don't buy German especially when batteries only last 2-3 years max here due to the temp.

As the battery has lasted 9 years and over 100k miles I'm not too upset, plus I have a friendly BMW Indie who is looking at it for me. He's just taken it away to get fixed, which meant I got to listen to it driving down the street - beautiful :)

I also now have a Mini Cooper D for the day. Shame about the D aspect, but when I borrowed it before it was a lovely little steer.

They do a slow-cooked and then crisped up pork belly with red peppers, on a bed of sweet and sour cabbage. Dipping sauce is a sweet gravy, and I generally eat it with steamed taugé with egg roll, stir fried vegetables and ham slivers.

Sometimes I enjoy it with veggie spring rolls that have a spicy bamboo shoot, mushroom and steamed vegetable filling.

Sounds complicated but it is ridiculously awesome, especially with a beer :)

Try going to Germany. Half the stores don't take Visa or Mastercard, they take that stupid EC card thing.

It's not can't, its won't. They've just set the fraud score for non-US VISA bin ranges to a million so it blocks the card. The reason is they can't chase foreign banks for chargebacks so they just block you altogether. You're right about the store process but that's because its cardholder present and there's no chargeback risk.

Yeah i know its wont rather than cant. They dont make their systems to handle it cause they dont want the business i guess. Just so stupid. Had to transfer 500 dollars to her so she can get it herself.

It stops us at the enter the billing address part of the order. They just wont allow non usa addresses input. So u cant get to the process part even.

To be honest, you might find foreign business accounted for 1% of their business and 99% of their chargebacks. Its not uncommon.

Do they accept paypal? Pre-paid credit cards?

We're quite lucky. The Chinese near us has kept the same menu for 35 years. Only one change of management from a gambling addicted misery guts to a lovely 40 - something single mum called Penelope (yes, she's Chinese lol).

Same size portions, same recipe, no food changes, and prices only gone up 20p in the last 4 years.

Indian food is a nightmare. You find a decent place and 6 months later the food goes down the toilet. Make my own curry now.

Follow the chefs. If there's a lot of Indians in an area sometimes there's a bit of a merry go round.

But more often than not the dip in quality is down to the regular chef going to India or Pakistan for a month or two, and then food quality goes back up.

We've three absolutely fantastic Indians near us (out of, like, a billion) and if one dips we just use the others until it comes back on.

Chinky? Meh. It's all the same MSG junk food shite the country over IMO. We don't do it in our house any more.

I had this when I was out in the US, with Uber of all people. Stranded in Santa Barbara unable to get a cab back to the hotel, thought I would sign up with them. It was going very well until it asked for my CC details - it picked up it was a UK card and then asked for a ZIP Code.
