Had this problem a while now and I can live with it unless I have had a beer and settled down in my chair, then it drives me fucking mental.

I have a PS3 connected to my router and then TVersity on my PC which is what I use to play my media on the PS3.

It works fine..............once. If I watch something then turn the PS3 off then back on it doesn't find the TVersity media server so I then have to go to the PC exit TVersity, restart it and once its running I then have to 'restart sharing' on the program. I have to do all that to get the PS3 to see it and if I have not turned the console off before doing the above I have to do it all again. So basically turn PS3 off do all the stuff then turn console back on and its back there.

That is one problem, thats my main issue. The other is I can't pause media files on the PS3, I have to stop playback and then press play again to resume, not a massive problem but it does get on my tits. If I do pause a film then press play it says 'file not recognised' or some such arse.

Any ideas on these things luvs?

If not are there any other media servers out there that someone can suggest, I don't even mind paying if it does the job right.

Cheers.

I've had these same problems. I can pause a file, but if I pause it for more than a minute it fails to play. Like you, I tend to just stop the file and then play and it resumes from the same place.

As for the Media Server disappearing, I have the same problem, but mine usually only stops sharing after a restart of the PC, depsite the TVersity service starting at startup. I just right click the System Tray icon and choose restart sharing.

I was tempted to knock up a little php page that I could run from the PS3 that would restart the service for me.

I've used this combo but not extensively, so I can't be sure if I have the same problems, although I don't think I do ...

What O/S is the pc?

I'm on Vista 32bit, so it could well be vista that's doing it.

I have found Twonky but not yet tried it (fell asleep last night as soon as it was installed) will have a play with it today and let you know what its like Whipped.

I do remember there not being a TVersity for Vista when I installed it but installed it nonetheless.

Ok all of our issues are not happening with Twonky, paused for 10 minutes and it played straight away and turned system off and back on and Twonky was still there.

One gripe with it but I am sure it can be fixed via Twonky configuration, all the video is mixed up in one big list, I have a divx folder, HD folder etc but on the PS3 all the video is jumbled into one.

Definitely need to mess with it more but as for the issues we had Twonky seems to have sorted it.

Ah ok - not set mine up yet on Vista 64 - doesn't media player do the same kind of job in Vista though? I know it is 'seeing' my wireless mp3 player over the net, wanting to configure the media library for it....

I just didn't like how messy WMP seemed compared to TVersity, having said that Twonky is a damn site more messy and I can't suss out how to have my seperate video folders when I browse on the PS3.

Anyone have any idea on how to do this?

In Firsts Steps you have

Navigation Tree Setup:
There is the choice of selecting different pre-configured navigation trees or defining a customized tree structure. For small content libraries the simple navigation tree is sufficient. For large content libraries the advanced navigation tree provides a better structured tree which allows faster access to individual items. A customized navigation tree can be defined through the advanced setup.
