Hi,

I have recently bought a nice shiny new camera, a Nikon Coolpix 5400, and have moved from happy snapping to attempting more interesting, technically correct photography.

I also had a BW web site lying around that I wasn't using much, so I have created a photo gallery there.

I don't know if many people here are intersted in photography, but anyone who would like can have a look and criticise at will :)

Some of the pics are quite good quite a few aren't, but I've not been at it long.

Thanks for looking anyway.

Nice!

I myself am dabbling, again just starting and I don't know the technical stuff. My girlfriend keeps shouting 'THIRDS!' I Photoshop my more recent stuff. The idea being to take a snapshot from a cheap digital camera and (hopefully) give it a professional look.

I'll jump on the pimp bandwagon.

Hopefully TdC will paste a link to some of his stuff. I love his shots.

woah Robin! get that rear tire changed heh :) thanks for the mention btw :D

RB, keep at it matey! Have your digicam on you at all times, cos you never know when there's going to be a brilliant thing you should be snapping! If you have the time, I advise (everyone) to go see if there's a photography course going on near your home that you can join. It's teh best way imo, to get those creative juices really flowing! Same goes for you Summo, I know you're a busy lad and all, but get to it :)

Anyway, here's some of my work. Please note, they are scans of original prints, and I have not done anything to them at all digitally. Some are quite dark, and that does get a bit excessive at times, especially since I work in black and white. Some are meant to be really dark though, they come from a booklet I made called "Zwartwerk" (meaning literally "Blackwork") A double-edged title, because "zwartwerk" is also a slang term for work the tax collector isn't aware of ;)

edit: I'll scan some more stuff and stick it in that dir :) sorry if it's slow: I'm also dling the COD demo :)

Hi Sharma,

Were you asking me?

If so I'd be happy to, just don't go selling them without cutting me in ;)

Any particular pic?

or me for that matter. I can scan all kinds of sizes.

as to the scans, lots of stuff is still on negative, and I've been throwing things away too. Bad move I see now :(

I'm thinking photography sub-forum with a gallery set-up for (subs) to upload pictures to. Obviously rules would be needed on what is appropriate, but if it was for subs only the threat of losing your sub should be enough to keep it sensible and legal.

It takes a lot of webspace uploading pictures, so I think this would be a nice bonus for subs.

Ah right a commission,

I think I've got just the thing for you, I was very proud of it, in fact I was thinking of trying to sell it:

Artistic photograpy is just so restricted with a digicam. (Well it is with mine and all I've tried).
A good SLR, some B&W film and a darkroom is what you need :)

Not got a scanner to show any of my work though :(

Nice stuff, I particularly like the action shots of the biker, your composition in those is quite nice. Your macro flower shots have some nice detail as well.

I like the idea of a photography forum, but there hasn;t been a great deal of response to this thread, so I'm not sure that it would be used. We could give it a go though.

Summo and TdC, there are some great pics there :)

Splitreason, thanks for the comments, I like the biker shots as well, I was really pleased to get them so sharp.

Clowneh, I'll take that as a complement.

Perhaps a combined forum of Photos, Images, etc would be better.

I dont care so much about the forum, it was GAME providing lots of webspace and a gallery that we can upload to as subs.

Hi TdC,

The default card that came with the camera was 32Mb, this gives me roughly 12 images on fine quality!

I have bought a 256Mb card that gives me about 100 shots, but I filled that in 1 morning the other weekend.

I am saving for a 512Mb card to go with it.

For a holiday I'd probably have to invest in a digital wallet of some kind.

Alternatively people could use any of the photography enthusiast sites and upload their pictures for free? *cough* photo.net *cough*

If you take that many pictures on holiday you'll end up missing the actual holiday ;)

Yeah true, but at least from looking at all the photos you'll know if you had a good time or not :p

I have been reading some reviews of this camera, and it sounds stunning. Given that I have only just got my CP5400 it will be a while yet before I can justify the upgrade to a DSLR, and by then I hope that Nikon will make a decent competitor to the Canon, simply so that I can use my existing lenses.

Yeah I've seen some good reviews of the EOS 300D, mainly a feature limited version of the EOS 10D.
