Need For Speed: Underground

Let me just say, i've been looking forward to this more than any other racer out there. From playing the demo, i'd seriously recommend that it be put on the BW ftp. It needs a bit of a ninja PC to play with all the shiny/spangly effects, but even on lower-end PC's, it's still playable. Online, it's the dogs danglies beating down Americans, letting them get ahead for the first half, and then blowin 'em away to win. :D

I can't wait for Nov 21st.

I just played it, the music rocks but i feel it goes for the whole speed speed speed thing over realism. Which is fair enough but not really my cup of tea.

Yup.

And I have to say - its bloody awful.

None of my edited options save upon exit of the game, no matter how many times I go back in and change them. The multiplayer game is poor - whats with this registering crap for going online - I ONLY WANNA RACE!!!!!!!!

The whole menu system is poorly laid out. With random stuff happening when you click the screen.

I've been a fan of the NFS series, but this is just bad.

I don't like car games where the car can hit every thing in sight without damage :)

Agreed, play the drag race you hit a lorry and the car rolls about and it tells you the car is totalled but its still just a shiny and new as it was before and the lorry you hit looks like something a child drew

Getting a honda licence for a game is a massive achievment, and generally one that comes at the price of damage.
Saying that, the decals they have on the cars, to do morph damage on them would have taken a fair bit of work (and probably a boatload more of polys), that would eat into its already spratic frame rate.

That didn't stop me being impressed by the visuals, and it played better than most people are giving it credit for. Does every driving game really have to be like the so called master GT3 (soon 4) - I hope not, cos I reckon they are dire.

My car is actually in the game!*

* Well sortof, it was used for promotional work for the game a few weeks ago. I got a poster (about 30 of them in fact), T-shirt and money out of it though! :)

argh, what a poor game. Won't let me reconfigure my game pad, doesn't save video settings, cars go round on rails, no need for any braking.

Live For Speed :D

c'mon stage 2 :)

Midnight Club 2 does a far better job of the Fast and Furious idea.

Surely demos are meant to give you a representation of how a game is? I played the BF demo - was good, bought the full game.

If they choose to release a demo early in the development stage and its not good - which it isnt - then I'm sorry but its their own fault. The errors contained are enough to put me off, regardless of the stage at which the demo is at. Hell, Lock On modern Air Combat's demo was based on Beta 5 code, and it only made me want to play the full game even more.

graphics looks gorgeous, love the ability to crank everything up to max with fsaa on.

However, it plays utterly shite, the car bounces off the walls (like Embattle said) without any sign of damage, I can't see to get the car to go in a straight line: every time i steer the car snakes left n right as i try to compensate.

Probably need a steering wheel to enjoy it. Menus are also pretty poo/buggy.

As has already been said, the lack of damage is due to the licenses.

The great reveared but utterly wank Gran Tourismo is a good example of this. Why would car manufacturers want their cars to be seen smashed to high hell?

Its nothing new.

nor me, car sims aren't my thing; although I loved destruction derby on the PSX 'cos you could trash the cars.
