Know anything about the (3000 ? :s) series 3Com switch? Got one at work and keeps on dropping ports :(

I would telnet to it but it wasn't named (thus we can't find it) and its fixed against the wall so I can't get to the back of it.

sorry, I know nothing of networking kit :(

also my servers dislike networking kit! my servers would always run just fine, free from the evil wishes of nasty users if it wasn't for the vile bits of networking kit plugged deep into their innards with pasty grey inadaquate cables!! my servers would rule the world!!1 :(

i thought that was just you on a good day?

a bad day would be forcing the server to run a full backup while people are using it, then disconnecting your phone and e-mail until its done.

the server works. I just sit about waiting for it to get done. think of it as 30 minutes of frantic activity followed by 6 hours waiting for results. bit like tantric sex really.

From what I can gather its from DAOC. It's used to discribe the act of 'down-grading' a class in DAOC. What I mean is that some characters are seen to be superior to others so to balance things out the developers 'nerf' a class in an attempt to level the playing field.

This has creeped into their vocabulary with a similar meaning to what the developers do. I.e. 'down-grade' or 'make less effective'.

There is a word I'm looking for I just can't remember it. :(
