Chosen, how often are you playing? I'm keen, but have exams coming so dunno how much a week I could do.
Not that often tbh, we started today and played 2-3hours! So we will just play it when we feel like, seeing that we probably have lots of time until GW2 gets out anyway. So why don't you just jump in with us ? =)

Hey chosen, could probably manage 2 or 3 hours a few times a week. Exams are coming so onlooker to get more from me than that until mid July. What levels are you both? Classes?

I am level 7 and my friend is level 6 atm.(Takes about 2 hours or so), but we will run along on you're first quests anyway.

Right now we both play rangers, seeing that we get the same storyline quests and can coop on them. But you can choose a 2nd profession as well, customizing you're class more.

We made up a section on the guild forum about GW1. So let's discuss when we will play there :)

I tried explorer latest version and Chrome, same shit. Explorer throws up an incompatible message as soon as I click on the buy option. Chrome at least gets to the payment frames.

Stresstest starting today at 19:00(GMT), it will only last about 7 hours. Again the server will be far shiverpeaks, the characters you had from the last BWE will still be there. Come and join us in having some fun. You can hook up with us on this mumble server:

Address: tna.game-host.org
Port: 64738

PW to gain access to the AR section can be gained through PM! :)

Seemed to be a rather stress free, stress test. Logged in no problem, pvp'd all night no problem. Found some lovely treb positions including one that could only be accessed via owning a certain keep. Gave me LoS on 2 keeps and absolutely smashed the walls apart at a time my side was being pushed back from them. Completely turned the tide of the fight when a wall blew up with people standing on it :D
And as trebs dont disappear it remained there all night to pick up on for keep defense which twice saved us from losing the place by destroying all their seige equipment (and people) and they couldnt get an angle to attack back as i had height advantage \o/

Mesmer in keep battles isnt overly affective at all, but in the sPvP it was dominant. Had a setup that meant i had constant clone creation and lots of stealth. Did not die at all in about 10 games i tried and won more then one 1vs2. Enjoyable indeed, especially as didnt have the heal on clone destruction tonight. Must have done something right as another mesmer messaged to say I was their hero and they were totally confused where i was in the fight. lol

They can be found under you're traits. (You got 70(?) points that you can put in different lines(5 total).

As Chosen said, you trait for it. If you doing structured pvp you can respec it to what you want.

http://www.gw2builds.org/create/press_beta_2/mesmer#2.3.2.2-1.1.4.16.1-10.25.0.10.25-9.3.4.7.12.7
.......
This is probably the build I will go for (if link works :p) ... That has the heal on shatter that I missed out because i forgot about the heal (had extra 10pts in domination).
Yes Im using a weaker weapon by using the scepter - but it rapid clone building weapon and with dodges it means i get 3 up using scepter and a roll. Mind wreck. Reset Mind wreck. double roll and get phantism up and mind wreck again.

If I stand next to the enemy as well when i mind wreck it is about 8-10k or more damage.. even in my Health build (stack vitality on armour etc). If stack power it is more deadly but you more a glass cannon and i like having 22k health :D

Just my 2 cents worth on GW2...

For the guys who played DaoC, and whose fondest memories are of collective realm RvR action and with it the sense of achievement attained from being one cog in a successful large operation, be it defence or offense...GW2 will deliver in spades. WvWvW gameplay, the scale and layout of the maps with the supply chain elements, and the opponent servers refreshing every week or two based on the server ranking system...I believe this package will rock. And its the first game since EvE that can deliver on that "grand scale" (with effects turned down way low).

MJ and Co made numerous serious errors at the macro level with Warhammer in respect to RvR (they made God knows how many at class level but thats another story):

1) The RvR lakes were narrow and campaigns totally predictable
2) The end game was PvE and predictable
3) The engine was shite
4) The biggie: No third realm and the extra dimension it brings.

On all of the above GW2 delivers. And they've even got the added incentive of "relics" and their server buffs.

Then there is the Structured PvP - which satisfies those of a more hard-core bent - again with a ranking system and tounaments to find the "best of the best" at a more intimate level across servers.

One problem Mythic continually royally screwed up was cross-realm class imbalances (BW in Warhammer being a classic case in point). With GW2 this does not apply. If your class gets the nerf stick it has exactly the same effect on your opposition and is "server neutral" (though a bitch personally if its your class getting screwed).

I see a lot of good and no bad at the macro level of the game. At the micro level - combat dynamics, classes etc, I haven't heard too much bad from the guys who have played beta weekends. They are all gagging for the next instalment to explore the game further.

Best post :)
Been pondering picking up GW2 to fill my time, think you may have just sealed the deal for me. Been missing big world RvR for along time (DAoC 8v8 was something that went on for 'someone else' for me, although I did like small groups of Scouts picking off healers from FGs as they ran past.....always gave me a chuckle :))

So... anybody got any idea how they're going to do their server selection process? Perhaps after all this time we could all end up on one server - otherwise... we will have to kill one another. Again!

Well, if you're prepared to pay money (or grind gold to get gems that way) you can server xfer once a week. So if needs be there's that solution. That and the whole guesting system in PvE means it's not so bad if you don't start on the same server.

How's the action been on far shiverpeaks (WvWvW) ?! Been playing on underworld for the beta's... think that server is loaded up with WoW carebears since it gets steamrolled pretty hard :) Quite funny reading the chat channel of people that have no clue what RvR / WvWvW is...

The server only matters for WvWvW btw... since in PvE you can just 'guest' on another server without probs... also if you switch home server using the cash shop, you'll have to wait for the next WvWvW cycle to get server bonuses (to prevent bonus/relic chasers)

One small issue the game in it's current state has, is that while the WvW maps are big, there's not a whole lot of 'roaming' space for small manning.. it only takes like 10-20 seconds to get from 1 structure/keep to the next one... in the beta with most people being low level, it took too long to kill someone before they could wilson to a tower/keep.. ofcourse once everyone is a true level 80 and we all know how to play the game better, that TTK will go down considerably.

In addition, seems they just added a mini dungeon in WvW (DF anyone!) http://www.mmoreviews.com/exclusive...annum-the-lead-game-designer-of-guild-wars-2/ -- which might draw some battles.

On roaming small groups I'm a bit more optimistic than you Doc :)

WvWvW currently supports 166v166v166 per zone (no idea if that will be raised). So approximately 650 players from each of the 3 competing servers spread over 4 WvWvW zones. That is an awful lot of ground to cover unless you have either a) one mother of a guild that is fine tuned, or b) a cracking alliance that can field big numbers, and is as importantly incredibly well co-ordinated. Then factor in the Conquest options (once Arena have got the FG aspects sorted) which will deplete WvWvW manpower - I would say there is more than enough scope for the roaming types to get down and dirty (with a bit of initiative).

There's a good overview of WvWvW with respect to various group sizes and what is achievable here - well worth a read.

I don't know about Shiverpeaks, but I played on Desolation (was cited on some Reddit thread to have a large number of UK players and clans, which seemed to prove true) and they seem to steamroller the other two realms quite effectively, both in the BWE and the later stress test evening.
