I would honestly have a hard time justifying paying a monthly fee to a MMO now, this game pisses all over if not all the monthly fee MMO from a huge height, i am really enjoying the PVE side of the game so far.

Let the first month go by, people said the same crap about GW2 as they did about Rift, WAR, Aion etc etc.

There's a lot going for it I admit. Quite tricky to master though, I just discovered how to spend skill points :p And apparently my thief can have a pistol in one hand too if I spec for it. Lots of hidden complexity.

My comment about the community came after being lost for 20 minutes after a trip to the battleground. Doesn't seem very obvious but the portal back to your starting zone is a different one than the portal you appear in at the other end. Asked about 10-15 for help and got ignored completely. One person said they knew the answer but wouldn't help me (gee, thanks) and one person tried but didn't have a clue himself. Eventually got back after much running around and moaning IRL :p

Im utterly lost on crafting in this, gonna have to do some reading up it seems lol

yeah I was to but I basically learnt that you gather up a raw material, make it into parts of shoes then make shoes; then once you have some gems you go into recipe maker; and you would add the shoe parts + 1 gem and it will give you the recipe for the new shoes with attribute bonus.

SO far so good IMO, however a few concerns which I expressed previously.

Currently level 23, never had a a group, and all I am doing is porting from 1 area to another in hope of finding events. Does this really create a community?

They removed the grinding element out of the game, it doesn't pay to grind exp as you can leech another persons mob on 1% and get full xp

A few annoying bugs which means I can't join any guilds, so no one to talk to other than my bro.

If you joined a guild before the launch all your concerns would have been made void :sneaky:

Im the same on the solo part aswell actually got to lvl29 solo, BUT there has been a time when a random invited me for a skill point challenge an we roamed around after as said person was over-levell'ing alot and struggled to find ppl his own lvl. So you could just invite people doing these hearts, and go on from there; I have seen ppl in map chat asking for ppl for grp events and stories etc so there are ppl lfg. ALSO you can set a flag to say Lfg on the contacts menu afaik.

I was actually in a guild before the crash, and upon return I am guildless, and unable to accept any invites etc :x

is there a slash command to leave or be kicked from a guild ? might be worth it if youre ghosting somewhere, very odd though

or contact suppotr and wait 8-10 days before the release rush is over :(

Where is everyone playing? Far shiverpeaks?

Will they make more servers tomorrow at launch, since I heard several were labelled Full ?

Oi, years since I've been on here.

Anyway, I've started playing on Saturday and I'm currently playing on the Desolace server.

Any of the old DAoC players gathering on a server?

Would be fun to play with you guys again. Best community ever (in comparison to all the other shit that's come out lately :p).

Yesterday around ~10am UK the only Full servers I could see were two NA ones (Jade Quarry and Sea of Sorrows), with the EU only showing 'High' ones (12 of them, unsurprisingly including Desolation and Far Shiver Peaks). Strangely, given the time... the NA servers looked busier than the EU, but I guess they do default lump everyone not-EU into the North American servers.

Very similar this morning with only Full being NA 'Sea of Sorrows'.

But of course they'll open more servers if the majority are at 'High' (I expect). If people are too stupid to roll on a 'Low' server if they don't have friends already playing they're just creating possible problems for themselves.

i thought the "overflow" system was meant to bump people onto "Low" servers until there was space on your main server?

Nope, it's like a limbo server which is way you see people complaining about not being able to find their friends on the overflow server.

ah so if you roll on a high server you could end up in Limbo (or different servers of Limbo i guess) until theres space? which i guess could take a while...

Pretty much its a double edge sword system, you can still play but you won't be playing with your friends until you are all on the main server.

Yes you can, it didnt work at first but should be fixed now.

When you are grouping up with friends and they are on a different overflow server. You can then rightclick and click "join in" and you will be transfered to their overflow server :)

I've done this lots already

Massivlely did a guide:

Massively's launch guide to Guild Wars 2

Oh, 2007: Those heady days when Guild Wars 2 was set to feature a beta in... 2008! It took a few more years than initially expected, but the wait was worth it because now, it's ready -- Guild Wars 2 officially launches tonight at midnight PDT!

But how ready are you? Jump past the break (jumping joke!), where we've organized Massively's many years of GW2 coverage to help catch you up on the game, its systems and features, its races and classes, and its lore.

Excelsior!

Guild Wars 2: It's pretty pretty

Anyone playing an engineer? They're good in pvp with the shield, pistol and combustion but feel so weak in pve

Anyone got a decent pve spec?
