New fan videos detail racial armor in Guild Wars 2 [Updated]
by MJ Guthrie on Aug 17th 2012 1:00PMBetas, Fantasy, Video, New titles, News items, Guild Wars 2, Free-to-play, Races0

One of Massively's own livestreamers has put together four videos highlighting the racial armors of the Sylvari, Norn, Asura, Humans, and Charr in Guild Wars 2. Richie Procopio, aka Bog Otter, offers fans not only a look at the appearance of the cultural armor sets but also exact details on where to obtain the armor, how much it will cost, and what level you'll need to be to wear it. Richie even gives players the scoop on how to get the appearance of the sets before attaining the appropriate level to wear them.

Each race has multiple sets of armor, and the pieces can be dyed different colors. Watch as Richie models all the individual pieces (and offers amusing commentary on things such as the brussel sprout and pine cone helms) in the four videos after the cut. Also be sure to watch more of Richie during his Massively livestreams each week!

[Update: Richie has added the Charr race to the collection of racial armor set video previews. Check it out below!]

-EDIT- Here are three of the movies -/EDIT-

Had the chance of testing out the game during last night stress test:

A) Quite impressed about the game fluidity and 0 lag so far.
B) WvWvW Maps seem huge nuff and with a good variety of objectives to fit most playstyles.

See ya during the week end ^^

I've changed my mind about my race as I think as I quite like the sylvari start area and maps compared to human and asura, especially the multi tiered Grove area that was pretty cool :p

The sylvari city got on my tits fairly rapidly.

I ended up jumping from floor to floor as the only reliable way of getting around the first time I was there. Got easier after a few more visits but its so unintuitive that I can see people being stuck inside it for ages to start with.

Asura all the way for me...who else can do the Hakka Shuffle Dance? Noone! Fear the mighty Asura Dancing skills.

yeah I must admit the only reason I know the city well now is because I'm dumb, I depositied loads of mats when pve'ing but for the life of me I couldn't find a bank. So I basically went around the whole map thinking if I find all point of interests / vista's I'll find a bank right !? Wrong :p eventually I got pissed and Googled for a map on sylvari city and banks, and read about how Banks can be accessed from crafting tables ! which is great but ffs :D

You know cities have WayPoints in them and within a city they're free to use? Also note the 'levels' thing on the map bottom-right, click the different levels to view those. Using that combination you can get around any city quickly and for free (it also helps with finding and getting to the bank in The Grove).

Yes I am aware of waypoints inside cities. Are you aware tho that you have to visit them first to activate them? or atleast get near them. So you can only port to the exit...once you've found the exit.
If you are just in a city as your trying to get out of the city to help some friend outs, being able to move around inside a city is not amazingly helpful when all you want to do is escape. Thus the suicidal leaps for freedom.....FREEDDOOOMMMMMMMMMMM....splat

Admittedly, the speed flowers inside did cut my time stuck inside by about a 3rd as I was able check routes quicker than if i had been just plodding along at normal speed. In the end jumping from "above" the exit door to the floor below gave me the exit i needed and I never returned to the city itself.

Now that I didn't know, will have to have a looksee at the weekend.

Admitadly i only did about 30 seconds crafting during all the BWEs to see how it worked so never really had to goto the banks for stuff. But I wasn't aware you could access it from the table itself.

yeah just like with merchants you've got the buy/sell icons on the left, on the crafting tables there's icons for recipes, crafting, bank + 1 more thing; pretty cool there's less messing about. Just collect and deposit mats in the world then craft at the tables its all good !

Now if they'd only add the ability to directly craft with things in the bank/collections it'd be golden. As it is Cooking/Chef looks to be a pain due to how many mats you'll need out at a time when trying for discoveries. That's not only an issue of having enough bag space in your inventory to get them out but also the actual palaver of pulling out the mats in the first place.

Indeedy. Star Wars did it right there with Crew Crafting from both the bank and local inventories.

Celebrating the dances of Guild Wars 2
by Shawn Schuster on Aug 22nd 2012 9:00AMFantasy, Video, New titles, Previews, Guild Wars 2, Humor0

What's the most important thing about next week's launch of Guild Wars 2? Is it deciding which race/gender/profession combo you'll make for your main? Is it deciding which server you'll play on? Or is it figuring out which dance emote looks best on your character?

Thanks to our own livestreamer extraordinaire, Richie Procopio, we have a look at each race's and gender's dance emotes in the game, which were just introduced with yesterday's stress test patch. Skip past the cut below to see the fun little video for yourself -- all in glorious HD!

Even a Bookah like you knows that Guild Wars 2 is on the way, but it takes an Asura's intellect, a Human's charm, a Sylvari's wisdom, a Charr's passion, and a Norn's love of strong mead to dive into beta and make sense of a game this complex. Fortunately, we have all five on the Massively staff. Enjoy our previews, guides, and our weekly GW2 column, Flameseeker Chronicles!

Have you not seen the Asura Hakka?

When Asura are "incombat" they have an unstable animation. If you strafe side to side they lean to that side on one leg, with the right timing it turns into an awesome Hakka dance :) Getting 15 Asura to do it in time is truly frightening!

I read this the other day, heres a mirror for those who can't see it.

I find it interesting that the latest drivers cause a performance decrease. Will have to roll back to 299.xx myself.

Its also 'annoying' they are insiting on using DX9. Using steamHS
http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

Less than 4% of steam players have a DX9 only GFX card. It seems to me sticking to DX9 for compatibility is a fairly silly endevour....

Keep in mind that there are beta drivers later than 301.47, and indeed the stress test last Tuesday saw the game prodding me to upgrade to the Beta 304.97 drivers, which I did end up doing in case 301.47 was actually part of the reason for disconnects I was experiencing. The game ran fine on 304.97 (but I still had the same disconnects from the Mists) and I've experienced no problems with other programs.
