Calling somone a spastic is not a lighthearted comment, and one fuck is not filling a post with obscenity after obscenity.

And so you proceeded to use it as a light hearted comment for a few posts after this one... just like I did. Please stop being such a hypocritical arse and stick to your opinions and thoughts if you want them to have any kind of validity.

lol

my "box" is:

duron 700 @ 900 (150 fsb)
256 Ram
gf3 ti200 (not o/c'd)

and i play in 1024x768 full draw distance and it runs FINE. So anyone having problems with a pc faster than mine is just shit at pc's quite frankly......

Rec Specs say 32MB DirectX 8.1 video card , what the hell does that mean?

 you can't get a true 8.1 card less than 64MB

I don't think GTA3 on PS2 was particulary good looking, but those stobing head lights were good, and will prolly need gf3 minimum, on pc.

Unless you don't mind playing at 600x480, which lets face it is good enough for console gamerz.

That's because console gamers are playing on TVs which have a very low res you mong.

Their max res is something akin to 800*600 - monitors are designed differently and thus show a lot more detail.

Runs like a dream. No slow down. Only problem I had was the display problem listed in readme for XP. They gave the link for the hotfix and it worked.

You must have a pretty shit system then ;)

Try playing some games at 1280*1024 in 32bit colour - Then you'll see the error of your ways :)

Thanks for that, Embeh. :) Have downloaded the patch already in preparation. :)

I also ordered GTA3 from Play as they were selling it for less than £20. Now I remember why I stopped ording games by post. :(

"Will it be there when I get home? No. Maybe it's arrived this morning! No..." :(

It doesnt run that bad ono if you go into settings and turn all the fps caps etc off, works fine now on my P3 733 / GF2 MX!

Well I get 40 fps on quake 3 at 1280*1024 in 32bit colour. and double that on 640*480.

:) I agree it looks superb, like those magazine screenshots.

However quake3 seems to be the exception, any other game I try to run at above 640*480 just ain't smooth

aside from the Directx 8.1 dll problem that windows xp peeps are experiencing GTA3 does have what some ppl are dubbing 'performance issues' but that's in part because people are so unaware of what they're actually using...

For those who already have the game you'll know that on the first run the game optimises (i.e. re-rasterises) it's textures based on your video capability. The engine rockstar are using is uber-flexible and is capable of delivering more than acceptable framerates on non DX8.1 cards due to a cunning deployment of smoke and mirrors...

On that basis someone with a relatively fast system with a Geforce2 ultra will see better FPS at the same res than someone with a slower CPU and a GeForce3 because their graphics card is physically doing a LOT less work than the GF3's pixel shader bottlenecked on a slow CPU... The visual quality on the GeForce3 will be far better but gameplay may be slightly choppier :(

I reckon this game is going to highlight to a lot of people that their $$$ would have been better spent on cpu/memory than the GF3 they dropped £250+ on eight months ago... fingers crossed rockstar will adress the immediate issues with a patch quite quickly but they can't be held to blame because their game has detected and optimised itself for GeForce3 (expecting an on-par CPU/Memory subssystem) only to find there's a 400Mhz PII under the hood.
