I can set up Ventrilo instead.

The VT > TS / TS > VT discussion has been done many times.

TS has less bandwith usage and better latency and a channel commander mode and less client / server versions to deal with - it's good for people who still use wood modems.

Ventrilo has per user normalisation and slightly better sound quality.

I can set up a poll and go with the majority.

There's no mechanics for it. Although formal agreements between guilds can be made to simulate a politics metagame.

Really - yet they merely used an existing word for a group of warriors - theres a finite number of english words that are suitable for this kind of thing so repetition is inevitable.
