what a twat this man really is.this is what im referring to...

dyson the hoover manufacturer,not only content with laying off 800 of his staff(he gave each 1 a hoover as a redundancy present)what a twat.he then decides he's going to switch production of his hoover to some far eastern country,where according to him he can make more profit by paying less in wages etc,i know this makes good business sence but the mans worth 800 million so hes not done so badly out of this country has he.

anyway after my rant i think we should start a petition so people dont buy any of his products.sorry i just dont like to see people ripping off this country then fleeing when the mood suits.

There's nothing really wrong with using cheap labour, providing that the prices reflect that. The countries where the labour is based are going through the same stages of economic development that we ourselves went through.

Leading to unemployment here, and horrific labour conditions there...you'd think that we could learn from the mistakes of our past and pass on the lesson, rather than taking advantage of other countries.

I think we should introduce laws that all imported products must meet minimum labour conditions.

Any product found in disregard will be banned for a period of 12 months, and fined 50% of profit ( from one year ) before being allowed to trade in the uk again.

The hi tech industry is very swiftly moving out to India. A large number of jobs available in this country nowadays are either temporary, or McJobs (shitty waged service jobs).

And I think the second point really depends on where you look for your sources. I'm sure we could quote either way.

And ECA, that would be good. Governments aren't keen to regulate on things like that though, since it makes us seem anti-industry.

I'd just like to point out here that you're refering to dyson hoovers of which there are no such things. Dysons and hoovers are both brand names of the vaccum cleaner. The same way that coca cola and pepsi produce the same thing but it usually gets called coke.

Anyway. Dysons are crap anyway, they suck like a cheap whore when you first get them but after you empty it for the first time thats it, you'd be better off with a push me pull me hodededer (reference Eddie Izzard) and also the design for the pipe and attachments is a nightmare.

This sort of thing has been going on for years in this country, motorolla just moved one of it's plants from lothian costing i believe thousands of jobs. Wrangler used to have a factory a few miles from here making jeans etc, again it was moved costing another several thousand jobs, BP are in the process of doing the same. All of these jobs have moved to third world countries where labour costs are lower etc. Thats just 3 employers i can think of in this area alone that have gone or are going in the last 5 years.. a very shite state of affairs indeed.

All these IT jobs that have moved out to India etc they were the tech support jobs. the IT equivalent of McDonalds, monkey sits on end of phone and follows the flow chart shown on their computer screen and when prompted they will tell you they will call you back (and don't) or take your details and send someone local around.

Eventually their country will develop and they will demand the same equal rights as their predecessors (at the same time their economy is stronger as the population is more wealthy they will vary in what they do in the same way towns in the UK adapted to the closure of Coal mines) at which point they will either pay up or gradually move to the next cheapo place eventually they will run out of places and all will be equal!*

*optimistic.

I mean we can sit here and debate how much better it would be if everyone in the world put all their money into a pot and shared it all out, but it ain't gonna happen! In the human races current mind set its still survival of the 'fittest'. I remember their was a survey that said that more people would accept not getting a pay rise if their neighbour/colleague got a pay cut, than if they both got a pay rise!

I don't like it, and if you explained it to people they wouldn't like it but there's somethings you can change and other things you have to leave to evolve this is one of them

Blame what you like, but there is less and less need for unskilled and semi-skilled labour in this country. Such is the price of having a developed country.

What astounds me is that we have a lack of qualified plumbers and electricians, yet a vast amount of totally unskilled workers in this country.

You simply can't afford to be unskilled in a global economy, there will always be someone poorer than you who is willing to work for less, especially when UK trade unions demand so much.

The unions killed off our manufacturing industry in the seventies. Anyone remeber the winter of discontent?

Companies do it all the time, its the consequence of free trade. At the end of the day its the companies choice. If you were in his position you would probably do the same, consider the taxes he pays the country anyway with his wealth.

Other countries have to be given a chance to develop, and without big companies giving them work they wont be.

As for Monkeys comment, spot on, old industries and jobs maybe lost, but new jobs in different fields are opening up.

I think you'll find there are 12 year old kids in India that can programme more than uni students in this country. They may be getting paid less for tech support jobs, but its an upcoming industry and compared to other jobs they are getting paid well.
