Yeah, I really think the BBC are missing something to make it that little bit more special, I think it tries to be too.. realistic? Needs a dabbing of Hollywood OTT tbh.

Capaldi doesn't seem to tick all the boxes for me, I know what you mean by Malcolm Tucker, the older doctors seemed to be a bit more serious but always had that core of being a nice person after all and actually being a bit soft, Capaldi is just an aggressive Scot :p

Good eoisode, even if pacing was a bit off.

I'd prefer more of a doctor oriented story though, so far it's not been that much about the doctor as it has been about stuff.

Perhpas it helps that i've not seen capaldi in anything else, but i find him to be a very good doctor(different good). From the new doctors he's rapidly becoming next favorite after tennant.

I enjoyed Keeley Hawes considerably more than the story...

I just watched it. I think this Doctor is ok, older doctors are old skool innit. And that girl is awesome

Does anyone else feel like he looks like a skinnier Roy Hogdson, or is that just me?

My sister who has watched the previous series feels this one is too childish.

Sorry what, Capaldi is more childish than Smith?

Interesting.

I'm still not warming to this season. I don't think its Capaldi; I have no problem with an older and more abrasive Doctor; its the writing. Its just all a bit rubbish. The plots are uninteresting, and the character motivations just all seem a bit...off, to me. I'm not going to criticise the the "science" since that's always been a load of bollocks. I genuinely think its Moffat; a couple of good episodes fooled us into thinking he was a genius, but huge parts of the Matt Smith era were absurdly bad, and he's not improving. At all.

I think he has put too much of his time into Sherlock over the last few years and rested on his laurels with Doctor Who

Which was also pretty poor last time out. Must be difficult to continue to be off the wall and creative when having to churn work out at a rate of knots.

he's overly reliant on existing situations and characters, nothing new in who for ages, it's become the usual suspects

I haven't been arsed to watch the last 2 episodes, just not really interested. It's not Calpaldi I think he's a great doctor its the lack of decent plots and Jenna Coleman this season has been dull, she was great last season but this season she's been dull, again maybe due to shitty writing. Certainly not interested in her new love interest either. I think the main problem is a lack of main plot that's supposed to develop throughout the season.
