Have to hold my hand up and say that I haven't been for a checkup for over 12 years. :(

Had a bit of toothache on my bottom molar last week and had the appointment today.

He basically offered me root canal work (very drawn out and painful) or extraction (quick and painful).

I went for extraction.

Now I have a big fucking hole in my teeth line and probably won't be able to masticate properly forever.

Numbing injection is going to wear off soon and the pain kick in.

Root canal isn't that painful actually although it is drawn out slightly.

Go find your nearest NHS clinic, and ask them how much it will cost to fill the gap with a fake tooth.

teeth pulling is fun, have about 6 gaps in my teeth :(

Still, adult teeth, turned upside down, look like dog teeth, so you could have fun with them.

Still bleeding ono?

Yeah, the swab came out ages ago and having to swill out with warm salty water every few minutes to clean the blood.

At least it's not hurting yet.

hated the bleeding, there wasnt even that much pain. Fun part was being able to poke the hole with your tounge (i say)

Of course you look like a hannibal doing your shopping around sainsburys with blood dripping out the numb part of your mouth.

I had root canal work done last year Ono and, truth be told, it was a walk in the park. The only bit I didnt like was the length of time he was drilling.

Dont know about your problem with masticating, I had a good wank straight afterwards :|

Having braces as a teenager not only prompted ridicule and name calling from my fellow classmates, but also made me have more trips to the dentist in one 3 year period than I'd ever need in my entire life.

Therefore, as soon as the braces were no longer needed I never went to the dentist again. Haven't been for 10 years now and no problems. I'm always careful when it comes to my teeth. Especially with the amount of sweets I eat :)

I had braces as a kid, but unfortunately Dark Age orthidontists wernt much good , and my teeth are well crooked now, I hate them :(
My son on the other hand, has had the newer style train track stuff for a year or so. He just had them removed this week, and it must be said his teeth are perfect.

I hate dentists. As soon as I sit in the chair I start crushing the arm rests...

You can get ceramic teeth replacements to fill the gap...

Not sure how much they cost though...

I'd had 18 fillings by the time I was 10, silly mum gave me warm Ribena instead of milk as a baby. :(
I kind of like the dentist though, mine is cool.

When I was about 12 I had to have a back tooth removed, and he literally just shoved some pliers in there and ripped it out, then shoved a ton of cotton wool down my throat. That was really painful. :(

Had 4 teeth out under local, the pain was fine, but the sound was feckin aweful. Had 2 wisdom teeth out under general but that was fine (I've seen people with swollen mouths and couldn't eat solid food for a while but mine was a doddle). Had train tracks years back but now am developing a gap between me two front teeth which pisses me off a bit as it was all done privately and me parents payed good cash for me to have nice teef.
On a different note I think I'm only semi evolved as I have (had for two of them) two and a half wisdom teeth.

This is an area completely outside my experience - I have never had to have any dental treatment in my life - do fillings hurt - do you get a local anaesthetic or something?

Even my wisdom teeth grew in painlessly - I feel like I missed out somehow not having an endemic fear of dentists.

I did get a taster of it once though when I went to the dentists with my cousin who had to have extensive work done and who seemed to be immune to the anaesthetic used - I can still remember the screams that echo'ed out into the waiting room...

How painful are fillings? I remember having some when i was younger, but can't remember if they were painful. (Also how long do they take)

Fillings are fine. Its just a bit of scratching with a sharp instrument but its bearable. They are crap though, the first toffee you eat usually attaches itself to the filling and rips it straight out of your tooth.

yes they give you an injection which makes your whole face go numb which is not a pleasant experience...

Agreed. A mate of mine thought it would be funny to slap me a few times when he realised that it was numb.
