Generational thing - could be one of those actors that die but haven't been in a film for 30 years and nobody below the age of 60 cares.
Yep.

What's annoying is that even I now think of her in Harry Potter rather than her earlier stuff.

Clash of the Titans? Death on the Nile?

Hook? You know you love Hook. It's your favourite film!

Nope, none of them.

I watched 10 minutes of a Harry Potter once and nearly had a stroke.

Michelle Trachtenberg Dead at 39 - battling alcohol issues, had just had a liver transplant apparently. Death ruled as natural causes.

"Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa have been found dead at their home..."

And their dog ffs...

No foul play suspected (at the moment) so it could be CO poisoning or something.

Yeah - just came here to say that.

Carbon monoxide poisoning would be a weird one but yeah. Looking at the beeb though no foul play might actually be a bit of media management considering they're still 'awaiting approval of a search warrant'.

Why would you need a search warrant to check out dead people?

Either way - real shame. Gene Hackman was one of the giants. :(

I think Carbon Monoxide too, especially with the dog dying as well... if its not Carbon, its something with a similar fatality rate.

Rich, dead people.

Easy to assume murder/suicide, but could be anything.

I think the dog mauled them both to death then got the carbon monoxide in.

Dog wasn't very clever.

RIP. Hollywood Legend. French Connection was epic.

Might not be foul play but sounds like CO poisoning or something

If you were cynical you might say the dog was killed to stop it barking.....

Jesus. Hackman and his wife both died of natural causes - the wife from some virus a week before but, due to his advanced Alzheimer's, he might not have even realised she'd died. So, him and the dog, which had recently had surgery and was confined to a room or a cage, could've just slowly starved to death (or maybe for him it was a consequence of not taking meds). Possibly the most horrific way that could've all panned out. It makes all of them slipping away from CO poisoning sound like a positively wonderful way to go out.

One thing the last year has taught me is that unless it happens in your sleep all death is pretty horrific.

It's one of the reasons I'm so angry we're getting to euthanasia before we've got proper, world-class palliative care.

We've got shit all care for end of life - and considering we're all going to die at some point it shows you how fucked up we are.

My Dad's end of life care (McMillan nurses) was actually very impressive from my point of view. Dying of cancer is never going to be good, but he died at home with his family around him in the best comfort possible. I suspect the UK is still better than Ireland at that kind of stuff (and I know that's not necessarily saying much).

My Mum died so quickly (in Spain) that I can't really comment, but my brother said the staff (at the expensive private hospital) were amazing.

My mum died after months of painful terror and despite our efforts the NHS was reluctant to look at her, never mind actually help.

They couldn't transfer her from one ward to another without losing her fucking notes ffs. (every. single. time. )

I really could go on but even though my sister and I had power of attourney everything from the GP care onwards was fraught with structural, organisational idiocy.

Nice bloke. Met him on a Jordan factory tour back in the day (with Rubens Barrichello and John Watson doing the tour itself) and he had loads of time for us (company I was working for was a teeny-tiny sponsor on the Jordan's nosecone). He made it one of those teams that I was always quietly pleased for when they occasionally did well. Weird to think or the tortured journey from Jordan to Aston Martin now.
