It is a side of "magic" to achieve feats of endurance, when Houdini did his "escape from a tank of water" trick it required a massive amount of physical effort to hold his breath for so long, even if the escape was a trick.

Blaine is simply dispensing with the "trick" part, its some kind of reductionist form of magic, all modern and all that, makes a change from bloody Paul Daniels.

I suspect where he learnt the technique was from these "touch the car" competitions, where people have to remain in contact with a car and the longest survivor wins, they go on for several days at a time, a lot of winners developed methods of sustaining themselves on minimal food and sleep.

After, afink its 4 days, the glucose and glcogen runs out and the body has to start eating anyway muscle cells...

Its certainly not possible without extream physical harm..

Im 15 years old I aint gone into much. But I belive after 4 days the glycogen and glucose supply within the body runs out. The body has to begin to eat cells. After 40 days of this you think theres going to be no damage?

what message will this "stunt" send out to young people who may have weight issues? They might start thinking its ok to eat nothing and just drink water.

It's all a bit irresponsible if you ask me. He should stick to the street card tricks which are a lot more interesting that looking at some tosser in a block of ice or whatever.

If he manages to do it without damaging himself and doing it with just water, then good luck to him.

Technicly he would only need water, for the brain and heart to work but all the other body functions...

Krypt hasn't been watching the trailers. One of them helpfully recites the "body cannablism" timescale.

It's something like:

2 weeks: Will digest fat reserves
3-4 weeks: Will digest unecessary tissue
3-4 weeks+: Will cannablise healthy tissue

If anything, they will have exagerated those values to sell the program.

And yes, he will fatten himself up good and proper to keep the fat reserves suitably massive.
