Ok in one of my older pcs I have a 2.6 ghz p4 chip. The problem is the CPU has becomes fused to the heatsink! I guess this is a result of a bad thermal compound combined with a badly designed and ventilated case. Anyway does anyone have any ideas for removing the CPU from the heatsink? Suprisingly every thing functions fine (This PC acts as my BB) just interested to know if there was a way to get it off it. The side effect of having them welded together is that the CPU and heatsink have to be physically pryed from their socket as the CPU release lever is covered by the heatsink and isnt accesible, Im pretty repeadtely doing this will eventually cause damage to the MOBO and CPU.
